Another Scrapyard Rescue! Today we save a 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta that had been forgotten and hauled off for scrap! Will it run and drive after being last registered and on the road in 2001? I really hope you all enjoy! It was a learning experience for me, as I have never messed with an Italian vehicle. Thank you all so much for the love and support! We wouldn't be where we are without you all!

Old Alfa's seem to have an unfounded reputation for being unreliable but they are mechanically quite strong. They like to be driven hard. They were prone to rust like many cars of the era and electrical issues are typically just grounds that need to be cleaned up. They really are fun to drive and they get under your skin. ALFA stands for Always Looking For Another!

They will never do it. They are Good Ol' Boys that have zero idea or respect for what culture and heritage is, especially Italian culture. Anything outside of their world of Camaros and V8s they know not how to appreciate. Hell they'd never even seen a 1970s, 1980s or 1990s American market Alfa before.

The KZbin algorithm, in its infinite wisdom, has just made me discover this video. Well, you've definitely earned a new subscriber, an Alfa Romeo enthusiast and historian from Italy, where these were common and are now loved collectors' cars. I'm glad you've saved this Alfetta from the scrapheap, as it definitely deserved to live again. The fuel injection system was made by Spica, then a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alfa Romeo. It was very clever and sophisticated for its era, allowing Alfa Romeo to comply with USA emissions regs while maintaining good performance. If you want to learn more about Alfa Romeo's history, my own channel is full of quality Alfa-related content. Cheers from Italy!

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of Italian engineering :) here in the UK Alfas used to be a reasonably common sight but like most things they are really not designed for our soggy climate and most had rusted out inside of a decade. I still occasionally see them parked up on a driveway or field, usually covered in moss and with rust holes big enough to fit your whole fist through. As others have said, you have a fantastic local junkyard that's a great source of classic Euro stuff, with just the right amount of patina to add to the historical interest without being completely rotted out and beyond hope lol. Nice collection you have there. I came for the 911 build (which is looking incredible btw) but stayed for the rusty stuff... definitely my favourite 'shade tree mechanic' channel!

I had the use of this car back in 1986. Fantastic car! Instead of fuel injection like this one, it had twin de lotto carbs which is a pain to tune and get it balanced. There are other idiosyncrasies which adds to the charm of this car like the rear positoned gearbox and rear disc brakes which is attached to the gearbox! A pain in the butt to change the rear brake pads :) But the overall balance of the car and power is superb. Please save this Italian classic.

As a life long Alfisti it's great to see newbies discovering the uniqueness of Alfas in general and Alfetta sedans in particular. Our family has owned over 50 Alfas and at least 12 of those were Alfetta GTVs or sedans. The few missteps with the suspected valve and the boat tank for fuel delivery were entertaining. I laughed when he said he couldn't bleed the rear brakes. I'd bet a lot of transaxle alfa don't have functioning rear brakes. Those rear calipers are FU'd. FYI, gas smell in the oil may indicate a leaking seal in the fuel injection pump. The last part was a classic Alfa experience. They couldn't stop smiling while driving. Please do a follow up video once it gets more sorted.

the Alfetta here in Italy, due to its performances, was used by the police and also by criminals in the 70s! Really nice and fun to drive car!

2:55 Always be carefull what you say to your kids, they might call your bluff. :) When I was about 11, my family went to see some of my parents' friends. One of my sisters and I was bored to death, so we asked my mom when we were going home. My mom responded with a "You can just start walking". Mind you, it would be a 30 mile walk in pitch black darkness, but we got dressed and started walking. we got about 1/4 mile outside the city limit before we gave up and started walking back. It was just too dark. We had barely gotten back to the city limit, when my dad and his friend came driving up to us. Apparently they had started wondering why it was so quiet in the background and figured that we were missing and started looking for us. I never figured out why we were yelled at when we got back. After all, we just did what we were told to. ;)

This was bittersweet to watch! My father used to have the Coupe version Alfetta GT, hatchback, with the 1800 cc 121 HP engine with two double carburetors ( yes, one per cylinder) which was pretty difficult to adjust so we had to clean the sparkplugs all the time, especially in the wintertime. After the GT we drove an Alfetta 2.0, basically the same body yours has, but with a different front and rear styling, with big rectangle headlamps. This one had 130 horsepower, still the same twin double carburetors and sounded pretty much like yours, just not that clinky-clanky, lol. Love your channel, go on! Greetings from Germany, Mark
