It’s incredible what they did with about 95% of that entire series being set in that one police station office. That takes great writing and great acting by all involved. Desk Sargeant Kogan played by Milt Kogan George Murdock of the Internel Affairs. He wanted to bust Barney in so many episodes. Linda Lavin as Detective Janice Wentworth before she left for her show Alice. Dino Natali as officer Zitelli which WoJo accidently outed him as being gay. Don Calfa played many parts, but he is recognizable for his roles. Jack DeLeon as Marty Morrison as a character that gets arrested a lot. Florence Stanley as Bernice Fish and Doris Belack as Bernice Fish had recurring appearence just like Barney's wife. If I remember right? Was it the last season that Bernice called Barney to let him know that Fish died? It was one way to take care of a character that they don't used anymore.

Ron Glass is my favorite. Not just because I'm black, but also because I'm a writer. He reminds me of one of my uncles who always enjoyed the best things in life. He's always been stylish, suave, sophisticated, and gave this air that he's high maintenance, but not in a bad way. Ron Glass presented that to me too, in anything I've ever seen him in. Even when he was a blind conman on Good Times! I loved this show. About two or three years ago, there was a television station that played Benson and Barney Miller, and I had fun watching those old episodes every day. They turned the station into something that nobody wanted or asked for, so I've not been able to find it again. It was a treasured part of my childhood in the late 70s and early 80s, though.
