This car made Schmee’s 914 look like only a door ding repair. Crazy, when does it stop being a Cosmo and just a handmade replica!? 😜

Anyone in the right mind would know that the pile of rust and holes held together by the remains of the paint that you started with was only fit for the landfill. Lucky you lot are all crazy enough to take this restoration task on. Can't wait to see the final result.

It was very nice to watch you all take part in finishing the car. Everyone's craftmanship is top notch in my opinion. I don't know anything about the later stages of your project, because I'd rather watch the videos in order until the end. I hope you don't mind.

Your efforts on this car are amazing. To be honest I don't think I have seen such a rusty car. I remember many years ago a guy, who lived two doors up from my parents house, who bought a 65 T bird to restore. Unfortunately the car was not restored and slowly rusted and sank into his garden over a 20 year period. Despite several people wanting to buy it the guy wouldn't sell and when he passed away the family had the car cut up where it lay and even the big block went in the skip. This said I don't think it was as rusty as the Cosmo. It will be great to see it back in all its glory.

There’s a guy in Australia (notevn) who’s restoring or restorodding 3 of these cars. His work is incredible too. BTW the floor pan of the cosmo is so similar to a production RX series that it’s not worth restoring the cosmo floorpan. Interesting I thought. ( wheelbase different though)

I presume that there was a reason why you didn't the plasma cutter for those footwell/bulkhead panels. It looks as though it would have been ideal - did you just not have enough time to do the computer work ? Best wishes.

i was beginning to think this teabag was made of the finest baked bean cans after they were used, but that's a pretty stupid comment to make really, the cans would have lasted a lot longer hehe it must be satisfying to know you have recreated something, so how much of the original car is left?, about 10%? i reckon, bet it kept you awake at night, would be interesting to have weighted at start, and again at end, see what it gained in actual metal, the paint should double it - great work Ryan and Co

W The the body man only minutes behind the metal man the heat from the welding and grinding helps cure the filler faster. As long as the body man doesn’t get in front of the metal man it should all work out.

20:00 i've personally used this method to make holes on parts too small to clamp and wirecut out, but on a piece this large, why didn't you use the plasma cutter to cut most of it and then dremel it to the final size? I think it might be faster than drilling a lot of holes/ cutting into triangles. I'm Not trying to be "that guy", i'm just not familiar with a lot of the larger machinery like plasma cutters and welders (never had access), so this is just my naive thoughts. is there a reason for not doing it? Would love to learn.
@yorkshirecarrestorationКүн бұрын
We show DIY techniques, not everyone has a saw cutter or a plasma cutter
@3AnxiousFerretsInATrenchcoatКүн бұрын
@yorkshirecarrestoration oh so it's like a showcase of every method one could use to do a certain task, depending on the tools they have available? Neat! Thanks for the answer! Initially, i thought there might be some metallurgic reason because i saw the cutter earlier in the video, but this makes a lot of sense😅

@@russthebiker Ooh, don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you. However, there are more than a few cases where the owner claims "money is no object" and then they start to realize the resto is going to cost way more than they expected. Then the project gets halted... It doesn't look like this will happen to this resto.. It would be interesting to see what the final tally ends up.. 🙂
