A video showing the Barnhaven primroses I grew from seed one year ago. I sowed the Enthusiast's Mix (containing Jack in the Green, Hose in Hose, Jackanapes and Gallygaskins) & the Mystery Packet.

It is rather satisfying when you grow something from seeds. I don't think I've ever had a primrose plant. They are quite lovely. I may have to look for one or two the next time I'm out and about at my local garden store. Great job, Rachel!!

I am envious that you are able to even get the Barnhaven primroses as I have tried everywhere here. I know I can order on line, but you never know if they will get past customs. Cream of the crop in the primrose world for sure. How long is your long border? Mine is 75 ft long and 20 foot deep and since we raise Jacob sheep, I use the well rotted sheep manure. I can certainly relate to the weeding task. Great results as usual Rachel. Kitty is a real helper eh? Just like my 6. They have to be in the middle of everything even if you are only changing a light bulb. Ha, Ha.

+Jackie Binkley Correction, my border is actually 125 ft long and 20 feet deep. I forgot that it is split by a path in the middle.

+Jackie Binkley I will have to check my measurements for you, Jackie. Wow, that is a long border. But it is better to have a good deep stretch for repeat planting etc. I bet your looks fab.

Hi there. Would really appreciate info on using sheep manure. Thinking about getting animals to keep weeds down, I heard sheep eat up roots and all. Do you have to worry about weeds sprouting from their manure?

Seems you have done a lot in the garden already, the borders look so neat and tidy. You know that you could broadcast a gardening TV show with great success? :) Thanks for all the infos on primroses and I keep my fingers crossed that you will get some interesting crosses out of the ones that haven't bloomed yet.

+Bumblebee Thank you, Bumblebee. I don't know about a TV programme but I do love my garden. At this time of year everything is poised, waiting to explode into growth. I do love that.

Your cat is just like mine! Super nosey and cat seem to leave things alone! The primroses are really sweet! The reds are a nice shade, and I quite like the pink! Hah! It's an "in your face" colour for sure! Is that a Fatsia japonica in the background? I had one but it got so big for my balcony!!

+Miracle Orchids Ha ha. Well, now you know there is a think called primroses. In Ireland wild ones grow at the side of the road in country areas and in woodlands. They are all yellow. Perhaps it is the same in Romania?
