Some thoughts: 1. You had too much yellow access, especially early in the game. Combined with wanting to go to greens spots for HC and dreadnoughts, you should have trashed a dune, not a dagger. And honestly I would not have bought desert ambush at all, it doesn't help you with your overall plan (which in a simple sense is "get green access, don't get too many low persuasion cards, and get solari") 2. You got baited into protecting the alliance in favor of getting SM. I know it is tempting but (again) you need to stick to your overall plan. Four influence on the fremen track still helps you with fulfilling grand conspiracy. You could try to get an alliance with another track (you need to get to 4 influence on another one anyway). 3. In the round where you gambled on going dreadnought first and research station second, you could have switched those and still deployed the dreadnought with your intrigue. So even when you said that you might've been too focused on getting grand conspiracy VPs, you actually deviated from fulfilling it at crucial points. Not buying the full scale assault was a good choice in hindsight though. Anyway, this game really is a difficult balance between strategy and tactical play. The strategy is mostly determined by your leader, early card buys and endgame intrigues or techs, the tactics are mostly determined by the randomness of card drawing, intrigues and tech reveals. The tactics often feel nice, but sometimes distract from the strategic plan.

Hey, thanks for the well-thought out comment and all that detail! I think it's a good analysis. It can be easy to fall into habits like "Always trash Daggers" but it can certainly backfire because it's not always the right choice as you point out.

@@bludgeontv Exactly, gotta judge it by the moment everytime! Hope you found it constructive feedback; reading it back I come across a little harsh maybe. Anyway, love your positive attitude in playing and learning this game.

great comment. I always get baited into "cool" effect cards like desert ambush. You might win a round, but it doesn't necessarily help you win the game.

I didn't find your comment harsh at all, no worries.

Hey Bludgeon, I understand your frustration concerning the shipping track. But I ve seen games where people did exceptionally well without using it. The point is just not letting one or two players continously using it. And I think Conspire became more interesting in Rise of Ix, because it's a great way to play around the shipping track. Keep going the great show and regards from Germany!

Yeah, I've had games myself where I won without really using shipping. But whether one person gets a major advantage out of it, or all players go there to make sure no one dominates it, it still means the game revolves around it to a large degree. As for Conspire, yes I do think it's a cool avenue and I intend to explore it more. Danke!

You can undo stillsuits first action, just confirm the 1 troop and then undo. When you're in troop deployment menu you cant undo

Ah, is that what it was... Thanks!

Round 1 you could have redone your action, for some reason the UI does not allow you to hit the redo button when you are in the deploy troop animation, so you have to hit confirm with 0 troops and then hit redo. Rename Vid to: Most unfortunate Baron Game lol.

Yeah that's a weird UI quirk. Maybe I should rename it haha!

What a bonkers game. I prefer weird games like this where it feels like everything goes wrong... they test your mentality when you're forced into suboptimal decisions and damage controlling turns. And yet you still found a way to (almost!) win. WP.

Thanks Patrick! I do think it's important that I don't only put up games where I win or make perfect decisions, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I have the same opinion that shipping is kinda broken unless it is heavily contested by every player. And forces first player to go to foldspace which doesn't give instant bonus like every other free faction spot. And if he doesn't 2nd player gets to double foldspace and ride the crap out of shipping track which most of the time results in victory.
