Always love your videos. Very informative for us non pilots who only dream of owning and flying planes. Keep safe brother and look forward to your next adventure. I love the explanation on avionics. My father was in the Navy and worked with the squadrons getting them parts for repairs. Everything from the old F-4 Phantoms to the F-14 Tomcats for the avionics package. He really knew his stuff.

Would love to see video on AOA needs. Keep safe and having fun flying - it's your passion as it was mine...

Hey new sub here . I used to fly alot in the early 90s with my father and his friends PA-28s and J-3s mostly. I missed the boat on flight training as a teenager back then ; my priorities were off ... Anyway I turn 40 tomorrow and am anxiously awaiting the flight school near me to reopen after this covid so I can start training , better late than never. I thank you for your videos I always learn alot watching you and you have motivated me to get off my butt and go do it. Thanks again 👍

Great video and greeting from “Just” a PA28 Pilot in the UK. As several others have said I’d be very interested in the AoA gauges and how you use them. It would be fascinating to see if you could fly a traffic pattern just on the JPI and AoA and nothing else (with safety pilot of course!)

Personally, I think there are plenty of videos out there talking about engine monitors and all their functions, and also the avionics are well covered as well. I've personally seen far less stuff out there on AOA systems and the high vis camera, so those are the things I'd like to see. No objections to videos on the monitor and avionics either really, but just... priorities. :)

Re: Crosswind and "not getting any help or any hurt". Wouldn't the crosswind require a crab to compensate your track? If so, you'd still be getting some minor hinderance, I'd have to guess. BTW, the fact that your title calls out the destination oopsie at around 6:00 really shows the power of how producing your YT content acts as a fantastic debrief tool. It can't help but make you a better pilot! 👍

@marcs9904 жыл бұрын
The new avionics look sweet, the only things, if it were my aircraft that I would change would be cosmetic, such as getting the yokes powder coated to a nice dark grey colour to match & also the strip of wood on the sides, u could do that mega cheap by using some 3M wrapping, they have all the colours n style imaginable n I would go for the carbon effect or a matt black/dark grey. Just those 2 changes would imho transform the interior into the present date. Also they are things u can easily reverse should u not like them. Oh, not sure if u have updated ur radar yet? From that old crt display to a better radar & screen that doesn’t need any warm up time n is so much better at giving u instant info. Oh, lol , I’m going on here, how about a HUD ? That would be really awesome to see. They r not that expensive these day n maybe u could get it free if u get a sponsor, same with the radar. Then sir, u should be complete. Thx for listening to my ramble. U could get easily 4 - 5 content vids outta what is above. Thx 😊

I had thought the two displays on either side of the compass were the AOA indicators. What I understand was why two of them? I guess Kim is going to learn to fly AOA, which isn't a bad thing. So, obviously, I'm waiting for the Aspen 1000 MFD and 500 MFD, but I know that's a bit off yet. You have a Century III autopilot, right? Is it coupled for altitude? Next question is is there a Flight Director mode on the Aspen, or does that need to come from the Autopilot? Which display does the MaxViz show up on, and will it show up on one of the Aspen MFDs when they get installed? You're going to need to get a HUD for the MaxViz. I DO appreciate you taking us along on your flights. Since I'm most likely never going to be able to get my medical back, not to mention the income to afford to fly again, it gives me at least something to look at.

You've given us a good sweep around your new instruments but I couldn't make out a panel for the autopilot. Which instrument would have primacy of operation .. an autopilot setting or a setting on the Aspen ?

Thanks for the videos- great content. My partner and I recently purchased ‘80 Piper Dakota which has an Aspen installed in it (2014)... we are debating on whether to overhaul the current Aspen (due to some button push issues) or replace with 2 G5s. Any additional insight on the Aspen more than you provided would be beneficial. Thanks.
@gmonnig4 жыл бұрын
If you go with dual G5’s you can get rid of your vacuum system, as long as you don’t have an autopilot that requires a vacuum powered attitude indicator. The reason I went with a pair of G5’s was the redundancy in PFD. If either screen goes out, you can still fly with the primary flight display up and stills have the nav info on the screen. A single aspen still requires a back up
