The17 th installment of my 5000 mile solo road trip to the Balkans on board the mighty BMW R1250 GS Adventure.
In this episode, I endeavor to save the footage and narrate a bit of chatter over some of the travel scenes. Simple really.
Permission to Torque is a Mental Health movement set up to show others that you "get it" by displaying a discrete symbol for others to take comfort in. Its not about sitting around in a circle feeling sorry for yourself, its about shared experience and getting out there to find out what makes us happy - this is the aim of my trip and why I am sharing it on KZbin, the good days and the inevitable bad ones too.
I hope you enjoy the journey with me and find it at least vaguely useful! :)

The city you have been talking about at 7:28 is called Baile Herculane, it was a really popular and famous spa town in the 19th and 20th century, it’s a shame to see it so ran down today. Looking forward to the next episode Chrissy! 😁

I think you’re being a bit harsh on yourself. Technical issues happen and to be honest, the narration was just as good as the live commentary I’m sure. I’m in awe of what you’ve done. Setting off across Europe on your own. Making it up as you go. I don’t suffer from anxiety, but I’m not sure I would be brave enough to do this. I hope you take the positives from that and cut yourself some slack. I, for one, have loved this BVG content and the “wearing your heart on your sleeve” perspective of your journey, not only through these foreign countries, but through your life.

Oh my! i used to be a sub back in the "ranting on superbikes while commuting through London" era of this channel, then i changed my account and forgot about it, and now this got recommended to me and you're in my magnificent dystopian hellhole of a country! Glad to hear you enjoyed (some of) it! I am immensely happy you ended up at Conacu Boierului, because that's one of the nicest hotels in Romania. Very happy this got recommended to me, now i've got a ton of content to binge watch. Love the new style of video, and the fact that you stuck to the classic Baron video formula :)

Keep it up mate, look forward to many more vids from you.

No idea if this may be affecting you but I suffer from homesickness. There's no rhyme or reason when it kicks in, but the desire to just want to go home is crazy. It's not a distance thing either. I spent two weeks in Australia and didn't have a problem, yet on another occasion spent 4 days skiing in France and for 24 hours all I wanted to do was go home. It then just fades away as quickly as it came on and everything settles down. It's a really difficult feeling to describe to someone who doesn't suffer from it.

Honestly mate my heart breaks for you. I think you recovered it well and the voice over worked out fine! If I can offer a word of advise. Your girlfriend seems to be the cause of most of your emotional instability. There’s two options, marry her and bring the relationship into a stable meaningful place for both of you or break up and get distance between you. Either way you need to take a proactive decision that’s in your own best interest. I have been there Chris and can honestly say getting married was the best thing I’ve ever done, from my experience. Not for everyone, I acknowledge but you have to be a special person to make that lifestyle work and it just wasn’t for me. Wishing you all the very best mate. Love your great work. 👍🏻👍🏻

Man! Give yourself permission to be human. We are flawed by nature and as odd as it may sound it's the difficulties on a journey that makes them interesting. Where's the interest if everything is perfect and it all works out? Personally? It's the hurdles that make us jump not the dash to the finish line. Be you, not what you imagine we want of you.

Those ruts in the road - one of Sydneys most popular roads ( Old Pac) has them as a finished surface on a small section ffs, Im convinced they left it like that to piss off bikers. Also every so often they resurface a section with that liquidy black shit and loose stone topping so for weeks or months you have no confidence in the corners.

The roads up at high elevation are often shit because when they freeze it can break up the asphalt and when they run a snow plow over them it ruins the surface. It's the same here in California, you can always tell the snow line because all of a sudden the roads get rough. They can also tend to grind them to allow the ice and water to go down in the grooves while the high spots stay clear and give you some grip.
