Barret is a stagger machine character. He can be your tank and make your life easier. Pairing him with Tifa is so good because Barret helps more on staggering enemies which makes Tifa the main damage for staggered enemies. Barret is also a good healer because he can build up ATB faster too.

@@oxfordking I have to agree on that. Barret was left out by most players but he is really a great tank. His Ability skills like life saver, Steelskin and bonus round are a must. Lifesaver to provoke agressive enemies, steelskin for uninterrupted casting of spells and Bonus round for continous stagger. He also have a skill with auto barrier and add defense which makes him tank as a bull! Great damage with great defense is totally epic.

@@terry85mar I beg to differ. Sure Tifa hits like a truck and can multiply the stagger percentage but Barret can make the enemy stagger faster. With the use of Overcharge and Bonus rounds skill he can make sure to stagger the enemies without any elemental materia attached. His Focused Shot also takes you for a fast staggering attack. Besides that Barret can tank because of his support skills which is not present for Tifa. Besides that Tifa is so squishy and could die easily.

Didn't know about the mad dash synergy skill. Makes sense why u wanted to uploaded this again. So are u immune while the animation is running?

Not entirely immune but you take much less damage - this is why I mentioned adding Steadfast Block Materia so that his ATB gauge just feels up constantly. And yes I missed this in my last video and felt it needed to be in the new video asap. I was pretty upset after spending 8 hours in total editing, recording, voiceovers, thumbnails etc.

Just like with Yuffie, you taught me something with Barrett. I never thought to quick charge after using an atb skill. He can turn into an overcharge machine gun at later levels with how quickly he can build charge between everything. Does it work the same way in Remake? Edit: Now that I finished the video, I'm curious as why it wasn't as if depth as the Yuffie one that I watched first? You didn't cover Lifesaver, any of his melee skills, Lifeblood Canoon, Turbulent Spirit, or his level 3 limit break?

Check the Date of the upload. It was before the game released. I had to get something up before the full game was out. Also it took me 150 hours and 4 weeks to beat the game. I would have had 0 video guides until now and in KZbin World that's considered late. My plan is to revisit these videos with Advanced Versions.

Sooo, you got any good builds for the brutal challenges with berret, tifa and red? Tried a build for barret that was supposed to make him a walking tank, and the enemy's just chewed right through his HP!

Barret’s mad dash just being his melee moveset from Remake has me wondering if they gave Barret a new melee moveset or if they just got rid of his melee weapons overall. Or it could just be they decided to reuse it here too

So from what I noticed they took certain Materia, Weapon Abilites etc and incorporated them into their moveset. Another exampl is Aerith's Fleeting Familiar which is now built into her basic kit of holding square. Another game that did this that's top of mind is God of War Ragnarok taking certain abilities and just mixing it in with the basic attack inputs. I'm a fan of these changes so far. Very curious what is in store with the weapons later on. The Synergy Skills fleshed things quite a bit which is something we all figured would happen after Intergrade with Yuffie and Sonon.

So tell me if you've noticed this. I just played a few games against Phoenix. Tifa, Barrett, and Cloud as my lineup. I would do Cloud and Barrett's synergy ability to get the level 2 limit breaks. However, it allowed me to do catastrophe twice in a row. I'd do it once, and then still have a full limit break to do another. I replayed a few times and was able to do it each time. Has anybody else noticed this? Did it once with ascension also

Yo man, I saw your link you sent me - I'm legit blown away by this and impressed. I never once saw this in my play time. I am not sure if these Limit Breaks take advantage of his Bonus Round Ability? So far from what I can tell is BR takes advantage of his Basic Attack & Overcharge. This is broken af in an awesome way if BR uses Limit Break as well. I need to do more testing on this before the full game drops tonight. Appreciate you sending this over and supporting the channel btw. Means a lot.

@OxfordKing no problem. I'm thinking bonus round does take advantage of the limit break also. It could be a rare instance since the limit hit 4 total enemies at once. I'm not sure but it's consistent as hell, I've done it at least 10 times now EDIT: it has to be because of bonus round. If you watch the screen, it staggers 3 of them in total (2 before they were killed) and each time "stagger" popped up on screen, the limit gauge jumped up

@OxfordKing ok, I did some real intentional game. It seems staggering enemies adds to the limit gauge. So when the catastrophe staggered the three enemies, it gave a limit increase for each stagger. I did it with Cloud also. Staggering is what increased the limit gauge lol

@@oxfordking good. i'll try to setup remake on pc later then, i followed the video exactly what to do but nothing, still stutters without hyperthreading and those settings showed on the older video. i'll play rebirth first at this point and checkup later

Best way to use Barret... Open menu and just kick him out of the team. I like him as a character but to play with him is not fun (to me) neither in Remake nor in Rebirth.

@@oxfordking Mission accomplished 😉 I mean every character is somehow more fun to play that Barret (can’t talk about Cait Sith yet) Cloud got nice upgrades compared to Remake. Tifa is still fun to play. Aerith got with Warp Shift a great mobility boost. Red is incredible fun to play with(if you understand how he functions). And if they didn’t butcher Yuffie completely in Rebirth, it is safe to say that she is still incredible. I might use Barret in Part 3 along side CID and Vincent and name that group old men get together 🤣🤣

Yes, More skills in the Full Game - I wanted to get these guides out before the Full Game dropped for basics - I will get a more Advanced Guide out after I play the Full Game. I don't get Early Access keys from the developers as my channel is way too small to reach their attention so I have to work with what I have.
