This is funny because I just had a mole removed from my nose, it was probably done the exact same way your fibrous papule was, I had it done on Friday the 13th (Jan). I didn't even notice your nose, before you had this done, and I didn't actually notice the red spot in this video until you brought it up. As for the wound, for me, I did the bacitracin for a week, I continued with that and vitamin E until I had a scab for a while, my Dr gave me no instructions except "bacitracin". The scab took what felt like forever but it finally came off and I have to say it was SO hard to not mess with it! Now I have a red spot on my nose. The mole was right over my nostril so it was really tricky for the plastic surgeon. They need to go deep enough to get as many roots as they can so it doesn't grow back but because of the location above the nostril, it's hollow underneath. At the moment there's a red circle on my nose, and the slightest round depression where the mole used to be, and I wonder if it will fill in more as it heals. The procedure is scarless because of the cauterizing tool but I am curious to see if any evidence of the mole and procedure will remain. I will say of the procedure, the numbing shot was AWFUL right in the nose, holy cow what a burn! It tickled my sinuses. And I get 400 units of Botox(xeomin) every 3 months for cervical dystonia, so I am used to injections. But oooowwww! Thankfully I felt nothing the rest of the procedure, except my heart pounding. The pain from that shot spooked me! Took probably less than 5 min. I'd do it again. I had a dermatologist in Texas quote me $500 to slice it off, leaving a large round scar because he wouldn't use anything like the scarless procedure method. He said a plastic surgeon would probably charge me $1000. That derm also saw my large pores and called my sebaceous filaments black heads so I didn't trust a word he said after that lol. I moved to NY and got a quote from the plastic surgeon I used, it was $350 for the scarless procedure! Idk what that derm was smoking but I'm glad I waited to talk to a plastic surgeon. Hope yours heals well!
@AliceintheRabbitHole Жыл бұрын
It does sound like a similar process! Was cauterized for me as well, and I was shocked by how quick it was. I had mentally prepared for a slow agony, but i think it was under 5 min as well? I was told it might scar though, but at this point I’m not really worried about it. Much happier to get rid of it as I hated that it was…elevated. I work so hard at having smooth skin LOL! Same conclusion for me: I’d do it again, especially knowing it’s that quick!! I am worried about the upcoming itch factor though. Oh god no I’m actually dreading that part!! 😅😅
@gwendolinehall1386 Жыл бұрын
@@AliceintheRabbitHole the scab part is the absolute worst. Days of wanting to touch it out of habit, itch, curiosity, fear that I messed it up if I blew my nose without thinking carefully about where to place the tissue, and then skincare junkie troubles. Congestion from not being able to exfoliate was driving me nuts! 😂 I'm still not sure what products to use/not use on it. It's red, but it's fresh skin. I don't know if brightening products are ok, gentle ones like niacinamide? probably fine, azelaic acid? I'm not sure. Tretinoin, not for a while. The only thing I hear about potential scarring is the vitamin E mantra, I wish there were better guides for skincare hobbyists.

Its interesting to see the list of different routines you have and how 3/4 of the different routines (I believe hyperpigmentation qualifies though I might be wrong) center around the acne in some way, shape or form. This may have been addressed in your videos before, and sorry if it didn't stick, but I'd be interested to hear in follow-up videos how you see the perceived value of the different routines. I've always conceptualized acne treatment as an effort I'd associate with setting up a quarantine zone on the face, almost exactly as you're doing with nose currently (btw props on your attitude about it as I see no big deal but recognize there's a bit more to it when you're on KZbin). While acne prevention I'd presume would require treatments across the face, when a pimple was popping up or you're dealing with post-acne hyperpigmentation I think you'd focus more on the specific spot. This could mean minimizing the use of actives in that area, applying a spot corrector/patch, or even post hyperpigmentation products. That said I don't regularly deal with acne so I may be missing a critical element. As far as the barrier support I agree its an "at all times" focus. I use liquid gold twice a day and several other products that I consider synonymous with skin/barrier health on a regular basis. I also am all for the "non-minimalist" approach. I'm actually more focused on time than number of steps, though I probably don't leave enough time between steps (4 toners/essences in under 60-80 seconds may not be the most efficient application process)

Fibrous papule! What a name, huh? 😆 Apparently it’s a common development that happens on the nose (…no pun intended?) I tried all the skincare on it for years, finally a doctor told me it was all futile. When they develop, there’s no way to get rid of them non-surgically. Still took me 3 years from that diagnosis to actually get it removed (because, big baby!) The DE is surprisingly great!! It reminds me of C-Glow in that it’s doing the “not oxidizing immediately” thing. I suspect this is a testament to the system working as planned. Upon mixing, you get a truly fresh bottle. So fresh that it will likely take a while to even begin the oxidizing process. I’m impressed!!

Hello Alice! Just applied my liquid gold (in the am) with cica plast as having a reaction to something. It's not terrible but making me a bit blue. I've not tried a new product for about 2 weeks, yet over the last 3 days something has aggravated my skin. I may have used an old product with a newer product I'd not tried before and that's causing the reaction. Can you react to a product a couple of weeks after introducing it? And I guess separately you might be fine with products, then when you mix them BOOM!
@AliceintheRabbitHole Жыл бұрын
I know that story all too well (as well as the blues that go along with it!) Yes, it could be a more latent reaction, which is typically what I experience as well. It could also be completely unrelated to products. For example, I struggled in January and kept trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. When we saw our heating bill (which was waaay up), i realized it was most likely the big change in humidity that was to blame. There’s so many factors that go into skin…unfortunately! Which does make it so darn difficult to figure it all out 😭

Hi Alice! I have a question. If you use a lot of barrier repairing products while you’re using exfoliating products, is that counterproductive or does it actually help the exfoliation by building the skin back up and is more preventative of over-exfoliation? If that makes sense?
@AliceintheRabbitHole Жыл бұрын
As in right before? You wouldn’t want to start with barrier boosting products simply because chemical exfoliators need a lower pH. But you absolutely could start with an AHA toner/serum and follow with barrier care.
@ultraviolettas Жыл бұрын
@@AliceintheRabbitHole does the barrier care “””undo””” the exfoliation? Like do they cancel each other out? Or do they work better together?
@masonjeq4261 Жыл бұрын
@@ultraviolettas secondary opinion, but I don't believe there is a correlation like what you're describing, in fact I see the two efforts as collaborative.. Exfoliation works on removal of dead skin cells sitting on top of the skin that can impede product penetration, create roughness, etc. Image a piece of paper (the skin barrier) with some sand (buildup of cells) sitting on top. Proper levels of exfoliation will wipe away the sand without damaging the paper. The skin barrier keeps moisture in and external forces out. A damaged skin barrier causes severe issues including sensitization, acne flare ups, and severe redness so you certainly wouldn't want to exfoliate to the point of damaging the skin barrier (a common problem). Personally I view barrier support as a cooperative element of exfoliation vs. detrimental because it reinforces the piece of paper by supplying living cells with nutrients need for support to ensure that your exfoliation doesn't create unintentional damage.
