Question. As far as I understand, the failure is never right away. It usually takes some time. Assume we have a bolt that had hydrogen introduced during manufacturing. Would it be correct that this new bolt would have hydrogen dispursed throughout the bulk of the structure, and it isn't until the fastener is loaded that hydrogen migrates to stress concentrations and areas of high stress and begins embrittling those local areas?
