Wow, such a simple fix for the short hardwire cords! Thanks for sharing, I hooked up one of my lights with the short cord, but I’m going to change it and connect my other light the same way!

This was very helpful. I also hard wired my lights since I have a finished ceiling so cutting the cord cheat was perfect. Thanks

Instead of hard wiring lights for years I installed outlets on ceiling and just plug lights in that gives you a little room to move lights around and if one should go bad just unplug and replace and made the switch over from fluorescents to leds as they go bad easy.

What effect did these lights have on your garage door opener when lights were on?

No effect. They are on a different breaker. But they don’t draw that much energy.

Great honest review. 👌 so after 2 years how are these lights holding up?

I did have a problem about one year ago with one of them. Some of the leds were blinking. I contacted them and they mailed out another one. All they asked for was a picture. Overall, very happy with them.

The plug wires and switch plug wires aren’t grounded. The short pigtail ones ARE grounded. Something to be very much aware of.

Are these dimmable, and does Barrina offer a compatible dimmer switch? Wish they had 20-inch under-cabinet option. 48-inches us too long for that.

I had a problem with one of them (some of the leds were blinking) about 18 months after installing them. I contacted them and they sent a replacement very quickly. Otherwise great lights.
@tymz-r-achangin3 жыл бұрын
Why did you cut off the wiring right at the on/off switch? I always leave a few inches of the wiring so I can still use the switch for something else whereby then having enough wiring coming out of the switch to couple the new wiring to it.... but eh maybe you know you wont ever use the switch for anything else or you will just take the switch apart and rewire if ending using it for something else :o)

I used to save everything, but then I ended up with so much clutter that I could never find what I was looking for. Now I get rid of as much as possible so I keep a more orderly shop

I have a 32x48 pole barn I just built with 14 ft. ceilings. Do you think these would be bright enough to light the barn adequately with 10 of them?
@ArtisanMade4 жыл бұрын
If I wasn't recording in my garage, I would have probably used 4-8ft strips. To avoid any dark spots I used 6. Your space is roughly 4x the size of mine. I think you should put in about 16 of them, especially if this is going to be used as a work space. Good luck! let me know how it works out.
@kerrysgarage46414 жыл бұрын
I agree, these are bright but that's a big poleshed. Buy the ten and hang 3-4 close together, (you can connect 3 together) and see if your happy with the lighting. I installed the 6 in a 20x24 stall I do my repairs in and its really nice in bright. But I think your going to have to do more than 10

Are all 6 lights connected together with just the power wire on the end?
@ArtisanMade4 жыл бұрын
They are all connected to one power source. If you are installing 4ft strips, you can connect up to 6. If you are installing 8ft fixtures, you can connect only 3 of them into each other before you connect to the live wire. Since i have 6 strips, I connected the 3 near the front into each other and the 3 near the back into each other. I then connected both runs into a junction box with the live wire.

I was just about to ask this question when I read this lol. Are you able to shut off individual units if you wouldn’t want them all on for some reason?
@Jabbey714 жыл бұрын
looking at the hardwire wire. I know that my current fixture has black and white. Where does the yellow connect to?
@ArtisanMade4 жыл бұрын
The yellow is the ground wire. It is possible the old fixture didn't have a ground. Check for a ground wire inside the the box where the live wires are. If you don't see one, it is possible that the box itself (if it is metal) is already grounded. Find a video on how to test if it is grounded. I'm not an electrician so I'm hesitant on going into any further detail. Good Luck!

What made you go with the t8's versus the t5's that Barrina also sells?
@ArtisanMade4 жыл бұрын
I saw the reviews that said they were super bright and took a chance. Worked out nice.
@sandmandave20083 жыл бұрын
I was about ready to buy Barrina until I saw your video. Thank you, because after seeing it I am questioning the lumen value assigned to these lights. At your square footage, 6 of those lights, advertised at 9,000 lumens, would put the value at 150 lumens per square foot. Using lighting standards found on the internet, woodworking lighting should be at 70 lumens per square foot, up to 100 lumens per square foot for fine detail. If those Barrina lights are truly putting out 150 lumens per square foot you would need sunglasses to work in your space.
