2000-2004 Barry Bonds was the greatest hitter who ever lived, steroids or no. The only hitter who genuinely seemed more likely to hit a home run than make an out in any given at-bat. That version of Barry Bonds was flat out un-pitchable...it was legit video game stuff there for a while...straight up nutty.

The host brings up Bonds being intentionally walked 120 times in 2004 but what I think was more impressive is how he hit more homeruns than he had strikeouts that same year. That's extremely rare for a power hitter. The other thing was him being intentionally walked with the bases loaded in 1998---the same year as the McGwire/Sosa chase.

@@robcamp1962 What a coincidence. I had the Saturday plan too. That was before they started pulling old timers and other "premium games" out of the package and substituting them with WEEKDAY vouchers. I bought for Saturday for a reason. The Yankee ownership turned into extra greedy scumbags when the Yanks started winning again in the dynasty years. At least it lasted long enough for me to see 3 World Series, including Game 1 of the WS Subway Series, and that glorious Bonds homerun!

Barry Bonds is 100 percent hall of famer prob one of the best hitters in the last 50 years. He was a hall of famer just in first 10 years. They put Big Papi in the hall who actually tested positive for steroids but because Barry was not a big people person guy they denied him. Clemens and Bonds need to be in the Hall. As a voter u can easily look at someone’s career and tell would have been this great without steroids. They literally walked him bases loaded. This guy had on base percentage some years at almost .500 that’s insane. He would have 400 at bats and hit 50,60 hrs that’s incredible. His eye contact was unheard of he made it look so easy.

I was very lucky to grow up with the Giants as our "local" sports team and witness this greatness every day. Anybody who wants to argue about PEDs and the Hall of Fame needs to recognize that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were hall of famers without it/before it. That's totally different than a player who would have never made it without using. So you're keeping Barry and Roger out, out of pure spite.

"They would have been in the hall without it" is a mute point and doesnt hold weight because THEY DID TAKE PEDS AND INFLATE THEIR NUMBERS while others in the hall are clean and more legit. When I was growing up there was nothing better than watching Bonds and Griffey swing. They had perfect swings. When they barreled it up the ball would just explode off their bats. My older brother was the biggest Bonds fan. He learned to mimic his swing. He's a righty, but it was fun to watch in games. I was more of a Frank Thomas and Griffey fan myself. I never had that kinda power in games though. I was 13 in 96' and I can still remember how locked in Bonds was from that year till he retired. He was so great bc he had, by far, the best eye in the game. He owned the strike zone so you basically had no chance of him swinging at a bad pitch. If he wasn't swinging at bad pitches you knew he was gonna see at least one good one and at that point it was over. He he wasn't getting intentionally walked so much I truly believe he could've hit .400. I hope the writers come to their senses soon and elect him into the HOF. Him not being in there is freakin criminal at this point.

The host brings up Bonds being intentionally walked 120 times in 2004 but what I think was more impressive is how he hit more homeruns than he had strikeouts that same year. There were stretches that season where he had like a 28:5 ibb/k ratio. Like he was being intentionally walked almost 6x the rate of his strikeouts.

Brent Mayne almost hit a grand slam after subbing in behind Barry and made the game’s last out against the Reds.

Steroids or not, Barry Bonds is the greatest hitter ever. He mastered the fundamentals of hitting to the highest degree and that directly led to his success on the field.

19:34 "I'm not gonna tell you what i do" So interesting and true. Teammates are always getting traded and moving on so barry didn't want a guy playing against him knowing his inner thoughts and techniques. Never heard someone say that but it's true!

This is great. Reminds me of the Larry Bird Bill Simmons one where they just talk about the game and the science behind it. Larry and Barry are similar that way. They don't do interviews about outside bullshit.

What people never talk about with Bonds is during many games he would only get 1 or 2 pitches to hit and he would hit them. That is something which is so amazing. He was so good that it wasn't something others could touch. And more than anything else that's what made people resent him.
