In the late 1970s I was living in Hong Kong. Dame Edna opened a Christmas fete and her beady eyes spotted me holding a rather peculiar pair of ornaments I had bought. "Oh Possum" she trilled " For me? How kind of you, just what I need for Madge's Christmas present......she has no taste either" . After that I rather lost track of the one sided conversation because I was almost helpless with laughter. Wonderful man , he will be sorely missed.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

I never saw Dame Edna live, but! I think of all the iconic moments I always recall was the "They found me a better seat!". It showed a totally relatable and more humorous side to Charles and Camilla to enjoy spur of the moment unexpected humour, not unlike that we witness with HM QE2 when she did the Paddington Bear clip. I always related to Barry Humpries "Dame Edna" clips far more than any of his other characters. A huge talent lost, RIP!.

I met Barry Humphries last April, after his stage show. He was kind & a joy. I was lucky then & even luckier now. Fond memories of "Dame Edna's Bristol show" Many years ago, Mum & my late darling Dad. Were picked to go up on stage with Dame. Did a sketch & had me & all the audience in tears of laughter.
