Moonlight was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever watched. It broke my heart and healed it again. I hope it continues to get its flowers.

If the envelope mix-up is ultimately what leads younger audiences to discover "Moonlight," then it was absolutely worth it. That night really did feel like the Academy was saying, "We're going to change your view of what an Oscar film can be!"

He's not wrong. Lot's of movies win best picture but few get stamped into cultural memory by a moment like moonlight did. It'll probably keep leading new people to watch it which is great because it's one of the best to win an Oscar.

Yes, I really think future generations are gonna continue to be curious to watch both La La Land and Moonlight because of the Oscars. And Moonlight made the Sight & Sound list so it will also have that extra edge for cinephiles for at least a decade.

moonlight was a transcendent piece of storytelling. lala land is a brilliant movie, but moonlight is a masterpiece

it's a shame that the cultural significance of moonlight, at least in the mainstream, is that it's the movie that beat la la land... after la la land already "won" lol
@autofocus455622 күн бұрын
Maybe because it has no cultural significance. Lol
@BROJANGSTER22 күн бұрын
it does tho! stop kidding yourself lol. it won best picture, but instead of someone like my dentist thinking moonlight is this really great film, he thinks of it as “that movie that beat la la land”
@autofocus455622 күн бұрын
@ probably because it’s just an ok movie so no one remembers it much except by the award it won.

@ you can’t just make big bold statements like that as if you’re not the only one making them!! 🤣🤣 or i guess you can, free country, or whatever 🤷♂️🤷♂️ lol

Even though I am well aware Moonlight won Best Picture, I totally admit that I always search "la la land oscars" when I wanna watch that clip again.

Moonlight is the better picture.

Moonlight should never have won the oscar, La La Land was the more deserving candidate.

@shadysorkin9214 IDK. I just think as a "Film", La La Land was much better.

@@mayanksharma4416 Lala land is a great movie but Moonlight is a much stronger meaningful film and deserved best picture.

Neither deserved it, in my humble opinion, but Moonlight was the way more worthy one of the two. Obviously La La Land had a lot of talented and hard working people involved, but as a whole it was some pretty vain fluff to me. Narratively and thematically, Moonlight had a lot more going on. The Oscars have long been irrelevant though.

Unfortunately, Moonlight will be long forgotten by the mass audience. La La Land will be remembered.

How do you reach that conclusion?
@njt00218 күн бұрын
@@gjford1951 Because most people I know have never heard of Moonlight. Sorry if that stings, but there ya go.

HA, HE'S MORE KNOWN FOR THE ENVELOPE THAN THE ACTUAL MOVIE...NO FUCKIN' SHIT...HE WON'T EVEN BE REMEMBERED FOR THAT IN A LONG TIME, GIVEN THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE OSCARS ANYMORE 😂😂
