It is so important that videos like this one are kept around for folks to view and understand. And yes, there are actually people out there who LIKE seeing and understanding stuff like this, and will waste time on a Saturday just to watch and understand a little bit more about the world around us.

you are right. The self study of cavitation and other science reactions is very important to keep the young people interested in studies that really matter. The study of cavitation is what make our nations nuclear submarines quiet.

Morris Stevens yes that's me! I love when I find videos like these, or rather when videos like these find me. I wish the whole of society were interested and only cared about important stuff like this

Thanks for posting this on KZbin. Seems to have come from 1963 era. Science was taught quite well in my day and this proves it. Have downloaded this to the science library of MOG Canal Boat, the Totally Electric Powered Solar boat.

Yes this is a very good explanation of cavitation and I have learned some things that I hadn't previously fully understood, thank you.

If you’ve seen the old film ‘The Time Machine’ you’ll have seen how all of the old wisdom was stored on spinning rings. Let’s hope we never lose sight of the wisdom stored on our spinning discs. Thanks for posting. Kind Regards . . . Andy

We called vimana which shows differentiatial between two values so we can go anywhere in universe So powerful aspect of all the problems regarding go through it We acquired that values which shows the meeting point of two extreme and make a path parallel and equally distance between it's two extreme values Vimana shastra entirely depending on this aspects Different between two values of upper and lower limits of force ???

I just assumed cavitation is simply ripping the water molecules apart. What is inside bubbles, steam? We would get cavitation inside hydraulic pumps, would make a right racket and pressure would collapse.

I amazes me what scientists can figure out and how knowledge is built up in layers. Astronomers had to make lenses, invent the telescope, look at the heavens and build the entire science by hand more or less. This eventually led to the Hubble telescope floating out in orbit, If Galileo could only see us now.

But a small area means more pressure as P=F/A....then how does the pressure decreases with decrease in Area..
@rextsou4207
@rextsou4207 9 жыл бұрын
In flow path, when flow area decreases, the velocity will increase which will decrease the static pressure. Furthermore, higher the velocity will cause more pressure loss due to friction or internal dissipations. When the static pressure is lower than the vapor pressure, the local boiling occurs causing cavitation. The equation P = F/A is not relevant here at all.

This can increase the local pressure a bit, making it above the local boiling pressure to prevent cavitation.

sad that you dont appreciate this. it's a lot more fascinating when you think about the fact that people trying to break sailing speed records upwards of 80mph are dealing with such issues like cavitation.
