Agree 💯%. I don't usually like every song on an album on the first listen. It usually takes a few listens for some of the songs to grow on me. _THIS_ one blew me away on first listen. _EVERY_ song is _FIRE!!_

This debut album is what put them on the map, kind of like boston. I mean, it just sounded so new and so cool and it was everywhere, at least in my circle of friends. We all had the albums or the 8-track sets, it got played at parties, at the park, at the lake, at the swimming pool, everywhere. And every song on it is just killer. This song however was a huge hit. Ain't talkin bout love, which I think you've done, is also from this album. Check out any or all of the others, you will not be disappointed.

Song brings back great memories! I was standing next to my car with friends in our high school parking lot one sunny afternoon when another student pulled up next to us with an unfamiliar tune blasting from his 8-track stereo speakers. The tune was Jamie's Crying and the band was Van Halen! Instantly blown away and hypnotized! Eddie's unique style and guitar riffs and DLR's lead vocal are fantastic, but Michael Anthony's prominent backup vocal on this tune (and many others) is the perfect complement and absolutely superb! What an era for outstanding debut albums! Boston (Aug 76), Foreigner (Mar 77), VH (Feb 78), The Cars (June 78) to name a few.

Following a garage band I knew, they got a chance to play the Whiskey a go-go. They were opening for another pretty much unknown band called Van Halen. It was 1975. Three years b4 this album was released. 😮

Not only is Eddie Van Halen a top 3 Guitarist of all time, Eddie’s rhythm guitar parts are part of what made VH special and EVH always played within the structure of the Song. EVH never overpowered the Song
@taylortyler186718 сағат бұрын
Couldn't agree more. His rhythms are fire, and for the most part, better than his leads, which are great, but it seems like he's more interested in flying up & down the neck, than he is about making it fit the song.

Their best album for me and a game changer in Rock Music history. Another from it you should try is the Atomic Punk. Saw them open for Black Sabbath in 1978, I was blown into the next dimension by both bands but Van Halen had a new vibrancy and white Hendrix vibe with Eddie. Then Iommi started War Pigs... Great show! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎶🔥

This is my all time favorite Van Halen song by FAR. I didn't hear it when new and first heard it when I was at a party when i was 17 in 1986 and it was on play from the record. Ive loved it since. And this came out 9 years earlier in 78. David was great dont get me wrong.. I LOVED his Van Halen times and songs but I find I prefer Sammy to Dave later on. Both were great and both fit Van Helen and both had their own Van Halen sound and times...and place in my opinion. I still blast this full max volume in my Mustang today. Strange as I think this a very party sounding song. Thats where I first heard it anways

I dated a girl named Jamie for awhile and my kids didn't like her. I then dated a lady named Trish and when this song played on the radio, she sang along but didn't know my ex's name. My kids both smiled and Trish thought they were laughing at her bad singing. It was hilarious.

I had totally forgotten about this song. Had a lot of radio play. I think you are onto something about the difference in David Lee Roth's vocals. He was a front man performer where he really could shine when music videos became more popular. He could sing, but his stage performance and acrobatics may have been more at the forefront later.

Aerosmith's "Janie's got a g*n" was '94's throw-back to Van Halen's '84's 'Jamie's Cryin' & L.A. Gun's '88 "Ballad of Jayne": 3 power ballads of sim' tragic ladies!💔
