100%, he's totally lost. He doesn't know what to say about the bread. The quality of the STEAK is #1 you could be getting trash or top choice perfectly cut rib eye. The bread, the freshness. I like mine slightly toasted to retain the crispness so it doesn't turn into mush. The onions, are they cooked well enough that they aren't snapping still? Is the cheese melted in the steak or placed on top. Is the steak seasoned or is it bland with just cheese on top?

To me it looks like he got cheesesteak with onions using American cheese as that is Dalessandro's 'default'. In case he looks at the comments cheesesteaks in the city usually have 3 types of cheese as options. American, Wiz, or Provolone. To people who don't live here I always tell them to get Wiz for their first cheesesteak as that is generally what people think of when they picture a cheesesteak (especially if drunk). Provolone is more commonly ordered by people who live here and eat cheesesteaks regularly as its not as heavy and I think it is more of an acquired taste. American is the middle ground and not as messy as wiz but still gets that really melty cheese flavor. If I was doing a review series I would make the wiz cheesesteak with onions the default.

Okay, here's how you order: Wiz wit, Provolone wit, or American wit. I always get provolone wit extra (wit = fried onions) but wiz is kinda the default. Next, you have to do other sandwich reviews. There's a great, under the radar place in NE Philly named Dattilo's that have GREAT hoagies, roast beef, and roast pork sandwiches (though I don't like their cheesesteaks). They also have great long hots, broccoli rabe, other Italian goodies, and a good selection of cheese.

the best steak I've ever had was from Delassandro's. They put their steak on a STEAK roll. Pat's and the other steak place on 7thstreet put their steaks on hoagie rolls. It makes a huge difference. Also, Delassandro's mix in the cheese with the steak.

I don't know if you're from Philly. I can tell you this much. As a Philly native, we always tell people from out of town. Pats & Gino's are landmarks, but their cheesesteaks are trash. You can a better cheesesteak from any number of random pizza shops. But if you're looking for a really good Philly cheesesteak, Delassandros is the best.

I've been living around the corner from Leo's in this area for about 5 years now. Just tried Leo's for the first time the other day. Got a mushroom cheese steak, fried onions, salt, pepper, ketchup with good old white american. Delicious! Had Geno's for the first time before one night in Philly because it was 12am next day and had no choice because no one was open that late for me to get a cheese steak. Geno's is good though. I’ve been watching some of your videos. You got a good idea getting views and subscribers. I grew up in Philadelphia and in the suburbs. I went to college just outside of Boston. I’ve traveled a little. Mostly in the northeast. Now I know so many places outside of Philly will have on the menu, “Philly Style Steak and Cheese” and in my mind it’s wrong already. You grew up seeing it as a steak and cheese but did it also say “Philly” or “Philly Style”? I’m sure some has already commented on how to order here. I’m a Pat’s fan when in that neighborhood. Pizza when your out with friends all night , Lorenzo and Sons on South Street is so good. Also on South Street is Ishkabibble’s. There chicken cheese steak is my favorite. Also you gotta try FWOT (Fingers, Wings & Other Things). It’s been awhile since I had their fingers but love them. Safe travels Brother.

Goto Genos or Georges in the Italian market,and instead of being a cheese steak tourist ask for a pork with fried onions, provolone, and hot peppers. You will NEVER seek a philly sandwich elsewhere.

Might not have tried many (ANY) steaks, but 7.8 is actually a fair score. Much better places for sure, but Dallessandro's isn't garbage. My go to is Philip's at 22nd and Passyunk...gotta have one on the way in and out of Philly everytime.
