I love the sounds of these trains. I was in San Francisco over the summer and I regret not at least checking out BART. Every system I've ridden has a unique sound, NYC's classic metal on metal grinding, the DC metro's futuristic sounding motors. Even the Lynx light rail in my hometown (Charlotte) has a unique sound to it.
@martintheiss7436 жыл бұрын
Hey Nick. not much to regret. If you remember the East Bay just think of a situation where outside of course of Concord the area east of the Oakland Hills would be unreasonably unpopulated for a city transit system, only accommodation for a business district be downtown San Francisco (with Oakland not well served as a business center), and above all else avoid San Jose. Never going to be a city worth talking about no?

Bart's redemption from its current problems depends upon each patron. A patron is a person who holds a valid ticket. Vaulting the fare gate like a Springbok is a clear indicator of the non-patron.

I remember in 1999(and again in 2014) when i went to Universal Studios Florida i went on the Earthquake ride and some of the props were Bart trains. I assume Earthquake the ride was built in the early 90s with the Bart train props included.these were life sized Bart trains by the way. so doing the math these same exact train vehicles been around for almost 30 years if not more!

@Hyperious_in_the_air3 жыл бұрын
the truck motors are staged induction motors that have on-the-fly delta-wye switching for high torque at low speed, and high efficiency at high speed. The sound you hear under acceleration and deceleration of the pitch switching quickly once dropping below 10mph is the motor controllers flipping the winding layout on the fly.
@blount_man3 жыл бұрын

@martintheiss7436 жыл бұрын
I don't want to be rude to Nigerians but even by third world standards BART now gives me the creeps. Current service plan does not do its original job to ferry rank and file workers to work and those who have other business find it easy to transit to events or venues. The managers even say its not a 24/7 line because they need time to do service work daily on the tracks at night.

I just cried a little... can I make my tesla make that pedestrian sound for when my car accelerates and decelerates?.
@therealchayd3 жыл бұрын
It's possible, but you'd have to reprogram the inverter with the new drive waveforms, it may also affect your range and torque as the drive waveforms used are optimal for those motors on the trains, and the chances are that Tesla has programmed their inverters specifically for the motors in your type of car to get the most traction and best efficiency.

I have no idea why did they chose this gauge and not the standard one
@martintheiss7436 жыл бұрын
There are more problems evident on the 2015 map of the system than just gauge issues. The area on the northeastern line (Berkley) just suffered a famous planning lawsuit which among other things tried to avoid development since a business was using an area to grow plants. Planners wanted the plot to remain viable and not be subject to shadows. At least now there is a state law there that should over the next couple decades bring sanity back to the housing price issues. Sickening.

Bart car train to Oakland
@martintheiss7436 жыл бұрын
Everyone serves Oakland Daisy. my message to Nick was only frustration that the planners in the late 1960s and early 1970s had no reason to expect there being any thought of a Pleasanton need for service. And even SFO, our favorite Canadian got treated to an extension which was completed only around 2000 or so since on the original plan there was no real need to go south of the county line into San Mateo. Even Marin County decided to leave the charter district since they felt it would be intrusive into their transportation plan.
