Damian Wilson is amazing. I noticed you had no problem hearing and understanding the lyrics here -:his diction is perfect. You really understand the song more than most. The whole Guilt Machine Album is about depression and mental illness.

Half that concert is a continuous story with characters. That's what people recommend you watch in order. The other half (Other tales) is the encore. Songs from different albums and projects you can watch out of order. This was part of the encore so it doesn't matter if you saw it "in order" or not.

That was one of the highlights of an evening, which contained the entire Electric Castle album and the Ayreon houseband playing 'Kaileigh' with Fish singing :-)

Others already commented that this is a song from the "Other Tales" part of the concert. But Damian Wilson still wears his costume from "The Electric Castle" where he plays the knight.
@mrwomby5007 Жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking, this isn’t an Ayreon song, it’s from one of Arjen’s side projects called Guilt Machine. The album is all about isolation and mental anguish. Unusually, the lyrics were written by Arjen’s partner Lori who also plays lead guitar on the original album. Personally, this is my favourite of Arjen’s creations.
@TheMateriaalkunde Жыл бұрын
Indeed. This is one of the "other tales" from the concert "The Electric Castle and other tales". Another one is "Intergalactic space crusader." If you see Damian Wilson in a blood stained coat, it is by his role in the Castle where he plays the blood stained knight.
@treintje1001 Жыл бұрын
This is not an Ayreon song, but one of Arjen’s side projects called Guilt machine. The concert was about playing Ayreon’s best album “Into the electric castle” integrally from start to finish, but that is not enough material to fill a complete concert. So to compensate they also played one song from each of Arjen’s side projects which are referred to as the “Other tales”.

I like to think of Damian Wilson as being a male version of Floor jansen - both can peel paint off the walls at 200 feet LOL!

@@AmericansLearn Ι was in that concert and I am happy to say that I'll be in Ayreon's next live this September. This is a show that's worth traveling cross-country for and I have to admit that by the time Damian Wilson got into the final part most of us were slack-jawed in the audience. What a performance! Ignore the purists. If you would like to be *the first to react* on something Ayreon/StarOne related, people tend to ignore the old Star One live that exists in YT, with Floor and Irene Jansen on backing vocals, Damian Wilson and Russell Allen and Robert Soterboek on main vocals and Arjen himself on stage. Try from that concert "Starchild", "Eye of Ra" and "Intergallactic space crusaders" ... it DOES get better and better. Enjoy the amazing music :)

Damien played Jean Valjean in LES MISERABLES on the West End for a number of years. His vocal technique is immaculate.

Such a shame this kind of music isn't considered to be commercially viable and thus will barely receive airplay on the radio, assuring it will never become commercial viable as the regular public won't even be aware of its existence. Only we few - we happy few 😀- that search out other music than the stuff fed to us will know the joy of listening to this music. Not quite sure whether to be happy for us or sad for the rest that is missing out.

With this one you are fine out of order, because it is one of the "Other Tales" that were performed after the story of the album was done. Isis and Osiris was the first song of the album, there was just the spoken indroduction before that. If you want to follow the story, it would be better to do them in order. But it isn't super nessecary. Link to playlist for Electric Castle live: kzbin.info/aero/PLBw9in18G_7rS82fF7KrvUxiQTtbzE1UA&si=DXtmfeKgoYiy2uvq If you want to look into the Ayreon Universe show, order doesn't really matter, because it was a Best Of show with songs from man albums. I really love that you take a look at the lyrics and actually listened to them while watching. One doesn't see that too often. 👍 Have fun exploring the Ayreon rabbit-hole!

Agree! All songs from the 2019 Electric Castle performance are to be found on YT, and all songs from that album have been performed there, including some "extras" from earlier projects. There are earlier versions around, which may be confusing. Remember to look for the castle backgound. The narrator for the Electric Castle stories was a find as well: Performed by John De Lancie, aka Q from Startrek. Oh, btw the blood stained coat that Damian wears is from the performance in the castle, where he plays the Knight, one of 8 contestants in the quest (.. and one of the four who survive..).

The album "Into The Electric Castle" starts with "Isis And Osiris" (the one you listened) and ends with "Another Time, Another Space". The following songs are other tales, other songs from other Arjen's project or from band of the singers in this concert

Guilt Machine is another music project of Arjen, There's Ayreon, Guilt Machine, Star One, The Gentle Storm, Ambeon, Stream of Passion that he is or was involved with.

For another great (and fun) song featuring Damien Wilson's vocals, you could check out 'Intergalactic Space Cusaders. It's a live track from Ayreon Universe ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4CZhZypeK16nqM ) The song is about a 70s British sci-fi themed TV show called Blake's 7.

This is guilt machine, so not electric castle, this is part of the other tales, so yes you need to watch into the electric castle in order, this is separate.
