A 'Crem Pat' is short for 'Creme Patissiere', which is kind of like a set vanilla custard, often used to fill pastries.

You took less time to remember the Prime Directive than Picard or Janeway in some episodes, so any hate is completely undeserved. Amazing that someone from Kettering has done something that made its way to Americans eyes, since the last guy who was probably the guy that named the place in Ohio. Love the extended version of his edgy comics bit.

Creme pat is short for créme patissiere (or pastry cream in English). It's a sort of rich vanilla custard used to fill some pastries. You'll find it in fruit tarts, gateau Paris Brést and other French pastries. The only difference from normal custard is that is has more vanilla, more eggs and sometimes has whipped cream mixed in to make it fluffier so it holds its shape in pastries.

The backlash against trans people in the last few years has been hideous. It’s the new frontier of the culture war. Gervais is onerous

It's because trans activists have been giving trans people a bad rep. When convicted r*pists can put on a wig, go to womens prison and keep on r*ping then they brought a culture war on themselves

The only thing I ever found funny from Ricky Gervais was his viral moment of calling Hollywood out. As for comedy, if you can't make fun about one group of people, the others should be off limit as well. So either all or none.

I feel like I enjoyed him the movie Ghost Town. And also in Night at the Museum. But I suppose he didn't write either of those. So maybe I just like his acting, more than his writing or style of comedy? 🤷🏻‍♀️

But as James points out, we don't have equality yet. That only works when we have equality, because the outcomes of certain groups getting made fun of (trans people, for example) in a society that already marginalises them is far worse for those groups than those that are seen as the "default", such as straight white men.

@@AmericansLearnone year late, but Gervais’ show Afterlife is good. Most of his series’ are written with Stephen Merchant, who I think is one of the major factors in Garvais’ success. However, I quite like his standup but I onbviousky don’t agree with his views

I'm not a big game show person, but from what I can make out, US TV shows are much more competitive than ours. On ours people are allowed to have fun more or less, whereas US game shows seem to be much more about making the losers cry. And a cooking show, for goodness sake, it's mostly a female audience, and surely they want to see people who aren't brilliant chefs having a go and helping each other because that's much more relatable. You can't Dude Perfect cooking, you want to see how its made and how someone who is as bad at cooking as oneself muddles through. That's much more satisfying. There's a fair amount of things comedians can't say apparently, like that Epstein didn't kill himself, or that the 'rona came from a lab, or that Russia was extremely provoked, or that Hilary lost because she was awful, or that Maddow is a delusional paranoiac who stumps for WW3, or that Palestinians have the right to resist occupation, or that Jesus is really excellent, or that representation in drama doesn't actually matter at all compared with redistribution while economic inequality is the worst in human history, and no matter how diverse and inclusive we make the predatory ruling class and war state they still urgently need to be overthrown. Stuff like that.

Aye you saying "I'm gonna have to see if I 'can't' find"? I'm baffled by this sentence.
@Loctorak
@Loctorak 21 сағат бұрын
It works either way. "I'm gonna have to see if I can find..." and "I'm gonna have to see if I can't find..." mean the same thing. The only information that changes between the two is the format of the answer you get (you learn you can't find the thing vs you learn you can).
@rossshepherd9836
@rossshepherd9836 10 сағат бұрын
@@Loctorak, not true. She could go to Antarctica and purposely not look for something by making the effort which would define her sentence of "I'm gonna have to see if I can't find" said thing. Essentially, this is a double negative which is the opposite of what she wants to say. It's a language thing, oppose to a philosophical thing.
