The guy is so funny, & although he presents as a grumpy guy, he had been raising money for a welsh cancer unit for YEARS before his diagnosis, out of pure kindness. His diagnosis has also set off a chain reaction to raise more money for the unit by his friends in the comedy world. As a cancer patient myself, who cherishes the resources at my own local cancer unit, I can truly say this fundraiser is a beautiful thing, born from a terrible thing. Best wishes for his speedy recovery

I don’t think “being grumpy,” precludes you from being a good person. In some ways I would argue a degree of cynicism is actually useful for recognising injustice. Obviously you can’t be cynical to the point where you stop seeing the point in getting out of bed, but cynical enough to realise “no, the people in charge don’t have it all under control, and maybe I can help fill that gap somehow”

I think I kinda get Rhod’s thing about the escalator. Often times if it’s one or the ones with stairs, when turned off, near the top there’ll be a half height step at the end and that can trick your brain into stumbling a bit at the top. I believe there’s been research done that shows people are very sensitive to the relative spacing of stairs, so that actually makes sense that he could be tricked like that

Rhod is great! I feel really bad about his cancer diagnosis and hope he wins his battle, for himself and his wife. I've seen this Rhod WILTY compilation many times and still I saw that Embrace the Suck 21 was reacting and I thought...yes please! Rhod also did a show that was called "Work Experience" (I think). It's a little different view of him. I wish that I could have seen more episodes, but I'm here in the U.S. and have to take whatever I can find on KZbin. Maybe Spencer and Daniel should check some of that out, too.

A couple of things about the second story. Firstly, I've been to Vannes. And it's a beautiful town. Second, you questioned whether the woman on the opposing team was Rachel Riley. Rhod Gilbert is always good quality. Also, it just occurred to me that the fact you both guess along for each one but never add up points at the end or anything shows how much you totally get our UK comedy panel shows, because the scoring doesn't remotely matter only the humour!

Escalator steps are higher than stair steps, so walking up them does require more effort than walking up normal stairs. I think Escalator steps are tall so that there's a good difference between people standing on them, to avoid awkwardness. We call them Oven Gloves in the UK, even though they are mitten shaped.
@grabtharshammer
@grabtharshammer Жыл бұрын
Also when you get towards the top on an escalator it starts to flatten out two or three "steps" before the end. So if you got got a momentum up running up the stopped escalator, that angle and height change at the end can be very offputting. I have flown off moving escalators at the top, by losing my balance

While I don’t know the details, my guess was he was living hand-to-mouth and found himself in a situation where he was eating with the people he was hangin’ with and had zero cash. If he didn’t get the car back they weren’t friends. I could see things like this playing out like it would among people who hang out for drug reasons.

Just so you're aware, I'm sure _some_ make their own Scotch Eggs, but the vast majority of us buy them already made and packaged in shops! Just thought I'd point that out since the dry description you read out _might_ make you think we habitually make them from scratch! And your reaction to the description was 100% spot on, they are delicious! Another 'food wrapped in other food' we are fond of that you might not have heard of is 'Pigs in Blankets'. Sausages wrapped in bacon before roasting. traditionally served as part of a 'Sunday Roast' type meal. Funnily enough and something I've literally just thought, we tend to consume bacon far more as 'Back Bacon', but with Pigs in Blankets we do use Rasher Bacon, you would likely just know it as Bacon! Again delicious...or Lush as many of us say.

That reminds me of the old joke : "A young man arrives at a girls parents house to take her for their first date. As they are leaving, her father says "Be careful with my daughter - she has acute angina". The guy replies "her tits ain't bad either"
