We have a couple of European style nitro taps that slide on instead of screwing on... I actually like them a lot more. Also, what about flushing the line to get the beer flowing again? Most places I've seen, there's a fob connected between the keg and the tap that regulates the flow and you have to flush the line a bit to get the pressure equalized.

Your phone really makes me want an ice-cream sandwich. But there are a lot more keg taps than this even though this is the most common I have seen.

Dude holy shit game changer here I’ve been doing it with it still locked and I get sprayed with beer every time, everyone thinks it’s totally normal
@BartendingPro2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, epic. Glad you'll no longer suffer beer showers anytime you change the keg. 🍻
@ianburne7516 жыл бұрын
Not quite correct! Beer kegs are pressurised with gas to push the beer out of the keg to the bar dispense tap. So you should turn off the gas to that empty keg before disconnecting the keg coupler in case of escaping gas. There should always be a cellar boy between the keg and the tap to stop the beer line completely emptying and causing foaming when a new barrel is connected. I might have to start my own channel to give people the correct where are you to do these things
@BartendingPro6 жыл бұрын
You are right in the you could have those extra steps to prevent gas escaping... but bar owners don't want to pay for a mechanism that isn't completely necessary. You can simply make sure the handle is completely in the "up" release position and it will stop momentary gas release. Besides, it's only off for a few seconds, you're not loosing significant amounts of gas even when it hisses. At every bar I've ever worked at, this is how you changed kegs. Is that every bar? No. Tomato tomatoe brother... as with everything bartending, there is no right or wrong, there is only, "it depends on where you work". So for most, this will be correct. Let me know if you start that channel, we can colab

tapping a Guinness keg is not exactly the same as this. neither is anchor steam keggs or European sliders.
