Shostakovitch, and naturally jazz, some Chopinesque reminiscences along with non-klezmeric East European Jewish (sometimes purely East sometimes totally European and at times inescapably Jewish) tunes and lullabies make the musical recipe for this immaculate sonata of Weinberg who posthumously bears the underrated lightness of being at the ultimate modernity of 20. Century Classical Music.

Weinberg......a big catalogue of deep moving music......not only the symphonies......composer of, for, with our time

Faszinierend!

Brilliant work. Feels like there are Eastern European or Jewish melodies woven in.

I know this is objectively wrong, but to me Weinberg's music is styleless; It's the voice of the soul translated directly to sound. I don't know why I feel this way, but I do, and whenever I listen to him I am reminded again why he is my favorite composer
