You’ve used on a tiny cracks. Can I use it on a large area? Say 10x10cm?

Hey buddy do you think this could be used as a skim coat over entire walls or would you recommend something else. New to plaster so want something thats easy

A plasterer haha. No seriously, I wouldn't use this to skim a whole wall, it's more for repairs and smoothing out rough areas. Get a plasterer in if you want a whole wall skimmed.

U can use this to skim whole wall used it to skim over walls and ceiling textured walls and ceilings it works do one coat then sand wipe down with sugar soap when dry do a second skim coat u can water down and mix for a smooth concisely

A very good fine surface filler, much easier to work with (& provide a smooth finish) than most other varieties I have used. My first choice for small household decorating jobs.

We had artex skimmed over but the plasterer did a crap job and in a few places where you can still feel the ripples so would you think this product will work

Try giving the rippled areas a sand first, and then yes, this would be ideal to smooth out any areas.

@@JBTV I think the plasterer only gave the wall one skim of plaster so not enough to cover the ripples. Do you know what polycell plaster repair is like as I didn't know if to try that or the bartoline.

I used this product today to sort a skim issue that my plasterer screwed up. It's utter garbage, when it dries it causes shrink cracks even at less than 3mm depth. The drying time is way too long. When smoothing out, it sticks to the float. Would have been better off using proper plaster and mixing it myself as that's far easier to apply and deal with.

That's a shame to hear, I've never had that kind of issue, have been using it for a ling time now. Was the wall behind too porous? That'll cause it to crack.. regarding drying time; if the room is at normal temperature (above 16 degrees) it dries within an hour or 2, was it cold where you applied it?!

@@JBTV nope I applied it as per instructions. Like I said it's utter garbage. I binned the rest of it as I wasn't dealing with it again. I'd have saved myself a load of time and effort if I'd have bought proper skim plaster and mixed it myself in the first place. My house has central heating so that wasn't the issue either.

@@JBTV all sorted now, thistle finishing plaster to the rescue. The ready mixed plaster bucket came in handy, I used that to mix the thistle finishing plaster up to a 'runny poo' consistency, applied using a float to the 1m square area, waited 20mins for it to go off, smoothed over using a wet float. Happy days and much easier to use than the Bartoline rubbish.

Not really, it really can only skim a surface. Fill the hole with a suitable filler, once dry, rub it down, then skim it over with this, then a light sand (120 grit) once dry 👍
