Morgan stopped making steel chassis cars in 2020. All new Morgan 4-wheel cars use their CX-Generation bonded aluminium platform. The body is constructed using an ash frame with an aluminium skin. The engines are BMW TwinPower 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo or the BMW "B58" TwinPower straight 6-cylinder turbo.

I imagine a straight 6 turbo moves these little cars pretty well. I also imagine the sensation of speed is much more visceral moving at half the speed of some insulated cabin modern cars.

I think about me doing it all but that also sucks balls and i think a lot of problems not most but many can he solved by giving the right guy enough money and time. Ford has enough of a soul that in hard times they go code red and they batten down the hatches and all boots are on deck and theyll come out with a mavrick but you mever see them doing what a guy does in his garage with an old jeep willys and a kubota diesel engine. Thats more my vibe. Except i hate the djes of combining a super old body frame etc to an old motor. It makes more sense to me to try to mske the same thing except out of like 1/8ths square tubing so itneould just not be this junk stamped out in despiration. I cant stand plastic buttons. I think jeep went off the rails after ww2. The junk was junk back then we coulda gone a whole different way

@fantscher4 ай бұрын
@@tims8603 just think about certain aspects of aerodynamics. SUVs - not aerodynamic. Teardrop - aerodynamic. Cars shaped like a teardrop: 0. The last time I saw a car manufacturer brag about their cw value... Probably the Audi 5000 back in the 80s. Wagons have better aerodynamics. How many are made? The reasons why everything looks the same are plentiful. Safety regulations. Height of lights, bumper, bumper cover, hood angle, airbag location etc. All of these things are either regulated or standardized. Then we have like two hands full of suppliers, car manufacturers basically customize a pretty predetermined catalog of parts and technology. And there are a few design houses that will be hired (Pininfarina for example) and creative people that move from one OEM to the next (BMW m division director moving to Hyundai, Audi to BMW, etc.). And then there's the fact that the consumers that don't want anything but the same shit. that's what brought the old Saab and Citroën down for example. Different just doesn't survive. Funnily enough aerodynamics are of concern with electric vehicles where we see some of the most forward and unique design choices again...

One thing that has always intrigued me about Morgan, although not limited to them with Volkswagen and Packard being two other makes that followed this philosophy, was that the exterior appearance changed very little over the years. Also, the Morgans from the 60's on maintain their value quite well. I have never owned one but have always had a soft spot in my heart for them. One story that surfaced many years ago was that the cycle - car craze scared Henry Ford as he was worried that sales of the Model T would suffer as a result. Fortunately for him, the Model T outlived the cycle - car fad.

Morgan is an unique manufacturer and has been that way for over 100 years. They were a family owned company but I think they are now owned by an Italian concern. While they keep some of the traditional methods going their quality and attention to details can be rather lacking. I was very much interested in getting a Morgan 3W when they came out but the closer I looked at it the more disappointed I became. Now the S&S V-twin motor will not make emission standards so they went with a modern Ford water cooled 3 cylinder under the hood. So I decided to build my own and address the issues I had with the Morgan. See my avatar.

Super cool video!! I have been assembling a machine shop to support my KZbin channel that I will be starting with the build of a 1928 Morgan RIP GN special 3 wheeler with 4 wheels. I am using an experimental aircraft opposed twin supercharged engine. This will be mated to an MG 4 speed manual gearbox with a 2 piece hand cast aluminum adapter. This will be connected to an MG differential with beautiful wire wheels. The frame I stood over steel and will have aircraft cloth stretched over and sprayed with plasticizer. This will have a boat tail look and is essentially a 20's airplane without a propeller or wings. There is only one other in existence and Charlie Martin races it in the UK. The next project lined up is the building of a Brooklands style cycle car similar to the Pembleton. This will have a BMW R-100 engine in the front and four wheels with gorgeous leather interior and even space for luggage. I look forward to seeing everyone over at the channel when it gets warm out enough to be in the barn in Pennsylvania .....

Bruh, you’re comparing a motorcycle with more body panels, to a giant Detroit v8, that you could probably strap that Morgan on top of, and drive across country, with your entire family, and their luggage, during a rain storm. A Morgan is a weekend toy . And honestly, 50mpg on something that weighs so little, isn’t all that impressive if you think about it? Also, I googled. About 6 Morgan’s get roughly 30+ mpg, while the others get around 25. Even the 3 wheeler gets 25.
