The Cliffjumper retool can be Angry Acorn (Alvin), and the Bumblebee retools can be Smart Acorn (Simon) and Tubby Acorn (Theodore). Hell, they did retooled repaints of their Brawn mold as the Ninja Turtles, so why not?

Actually, Cliffjumper was in Transformers: War for Cybertron. He was in the DS games which had several characters that weren't in the the console games until Fall of Cybertron. Some characters like Motormaster, Cyclonus, Ultra Magnus, and Hot Shot never appeared in any other game in the series.

That's why Hoist is almost Voyager-scale, Cliffy is almost Legends-scale, and the rest fall somewhere in-between.

Hasbro has always kinda done that, but used to limit the "some more, some less" bit to paint and small accessories. Now they're doing it with plastic, too, which isn't a bad thing. They're also reusing minor parts in creative ways that blue the line on "retool" - do Titans Return Scourge and Windblade count, since they share the same extending spine and thighs?

The first time he died was at the END of the Underbase saga of the comics. He didn't die in the original cartoon at all. He didn't die in the Cybertron games. Prime is a sequel to those games, technically. He didn't die again until the END of IDW's original continuity. He only died once at the beginning of a continuity, in Bumblebee.

Classics Cliffjumper was one of my first Transformers, I still have it somewhere. This guy pretty much jumpstarted my interest in the franchise and I've had a particular love for the character ever since....and I've never gotten another version of him. I'm a massive car nerd so here's a bit of fun I noticed: G1 Cliffjumper is a Porsche 924 Turbo. Then Prime rebooted him into what looks like a modified Dodge Challenger. Earthrise Cliffjumper is very clearly modeled after a Mitsubishi Starion, which was a Japanese competitor to the 924 (and later 944), but was also sold in the US as the Chrysler, Plymouth or Dodge Conquest, effectively combining the G1 and Prime roots.

Earthrise Cliffjumper really is a treat. For the price point I was iffy on the size, but it really doesn't matter. The plastic quality is awesome, the weapons are sick, good transformation and articulation. Literally the only negative is the shield backpack, but it's not a big one for me. It's better than Siege Optimus in plastic quality, which dissapoints me because I love that toy as well. Also, thanks for pointing out that the G1 Cliffjumper that I had as a boy (likely the key chain re-release or knock off, given I got it at a garage sale for a quarter) was in fact the red Bumblebee. I wish I could find that thing, I'm sure I have it somewhere.

There's really two classes of 1984 Autobots. You've got your face of the brand, new toy every other week A-tier guys like Optimus, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jazz, etc. Then you've got your overlooked, forgotten, which-one's-which-again B-tier guys like Gears, Brawn, Windcharger, the other one, etc. Cliffjumper's a weird old boy in that he's nowhere near famous enough to fit into the A-tier, but far too well known to fit into the B-tier. He's just a class of his own.
