Hassan if you like such genre as Barzakh, highly recommend Twin Peaks (if you haven't watched already). Season 1 is from the 80s. Season 2 came 25 years later in 2016 or so (because season 1 had references of things happening 25yrs later). Both are on Netflix. Barzakh Episode 1 was so David Lynch - it was equal parts intriguing, equal parts weird. 5mins into the show and we got the Twin Peaks vibe

Here is an appreciation for Usman Mukhtar for not succumbing to rut of playing the same toxic male lead like Aswad. I am sure he would have been offered similar roles but he waited for the right script. This is the difference between him and actors like Danish Taimoor, the former didn't compromise on his principles!!

I agree! I have been sick and tired of Danish Taimoor’s shtick for years! And although my condemning him will do nothing to stop his trajectory, but I still never watch any of his dramas on principle! I had only tried watching chand taara because it looked so good and different from his toxic male roles. But then that drama itself was so boring that I gave up on it by episode 4!

@batoolkaghazwala6310 Danish Taimoor is a kind of hero that will most likely compel you to smash your phone or television screen if his face appears on it. I'm not sure what gives him the confidence that he looks so well in those toxic masculine characters. Personally, I can't stand his appearance. I can honestly say that I was never a fan of his acting, but his constant portrayal of toxic male characters makes him more unbearable for me. I really hope he begins to think seriously about stepping down from television. Who the heck even watches his dramas, anyway? Like I genuinely want to see his fanbase.

Maybe yes he did love her honestly and was emotional about her wedding but he didnt have enough courage to take the tablets nor did he expect sehr's character to commit suicide; that is why he reacted that way when he realized she was hospitalised and actually took the tabs.

This was one of the best and much needed episode of Jaffa. Numair deserves all the love he is getting. Even though all these moments were beautiful, I have an observation. In this whole situation Numair was in his doctor mode and his response was very calculated. Doctors are trained like that to forget about their own feelings and handle the trauma patient. Once he will realize his own pain, it will be interesting to see his human side and how their relationship will evolve. Anyways, kudos to Usman and Sehar. It was a treat to watch two brilliant actors performing at the same level!!

Exactly. From his first interaction with andaleeb after marriage till the last, he was in his doctor mode. He was counselling her in hospital scene just as he was dealing with one of his cancer patient, validating her feelings, and offering support, nothing more, nothing less
@samrahmumtaz9469
@samrahmumtaz9469 2 ай бұрын
@mariaatariq3713 You are correct, but I believe there is another reason, and that is Numair is depicted as a mentally mature person. He would act in the same way if he weren't a doctor. He forgot about himself because he understood that Andaleep's agony was far worse than his own. He never wanted to marry, but poor Andaleep was compelled to do so. Her parents forcibly ended her relationship with Moiz, prompting Andaleep to commit suicide. These circumstances make Numair more sympathetic towards Andaleep. That's why he told his mother, "US KE KAPRON PE SALLAN KIYA, GIRA AP LOGO NE TU USKI ZINDAGI KHARAB KARDI". He's a fantastic character. Their story will be quite interesting.

Noor Jahan: im in process of meeting potential men for marriage, and recently this line “I can get another wife but I have only one mother is being used more than you can imagine.” One guy actually said, “I’m the only son, why would I move out with someone I just met and leave my mother who I’ve known my whole life.” This is such a delicate topic and I love how the drama responds to it. You can’t compare your mom and wife: and if you’re entering marriage with this mindset then it’s disgusting because you’re taking the wife for granted. She also loved her mom and dad, and only has one mom and dad but she is changing the course of her life for you. So I appreciate the drama had this line. And I loved Noor bano’s response because so far I didn’t even know what to say to such men. But she says it right: these two relations should never be compared and a wife isn’t so cheap. And if you have this mindset, then it’s disgusting

Unless they also know when they will die and have time to seek forgiveness. That is the real question. Now, if you don't believe in the final questioning, that's another story. The parents in jafa make sense. Their daughter brought a guy in their house at night, that guy wasn't bringing his mother but was planning to run with her, he was hovering around her house in one scene on bike which was also quite immature. Also, moiz does make sense. He's a typical young lad who speaks highly but he literally didn't talk to his mother after that one time but expected her to run with him, to go against her parents. He was putting it all on sehar. I don't think he's as naive as we thought. He was legit gaslighting the girl to attempt suicide and she realized it right away. Loved it.

Yes this does makes sense. The parents were right that Moiz is not the right person for their precious daughter. But they should have realised that their daughter loved that boy and handling the situation by forcefully and immediately marrying her to another person was not a good idea. They shouldhave properly and politely talked to Andaleeb, making her realise that Moiz wasn't the right person. And they should have given her time to emotionally and mentally come out of this phase of her selfless love towards Moiz. Instead of politely treating their daughter, they married her off within 2 days, not giving her the time to mentally be able to accept the situation. Their actions were rly extreme.

They did try and talk to her, gave her a chance by asking her to talk to the guy but she tried to run away and to commit suicide. The ideal situation would be to seek therapy but they just showed what actually happens in our society. I said it makes sense, not that it was right. Dua Zahra is a living proof of what happens if you don't deal with the situation hands on. They've shown that her parents were not right either. It has not been glorified in any way as far as I can see.

Equinox is the day when the sun is directly positioned above earth’s equator which causes the day and night time to have an equal amount of length everywhere. This event happens twice a year. Whereas, a Red Moon is actually a total lunar eclipse-in other words, a chand-grahan, as Hassan rightly mentioned. PS: Not every chand-grahan is a Red Moon though.

Barzakh,.. I think one of the interpretations might be that khushal and that girls souls were together in Aalam e Barzakh... But when the boy is sent to the earth he gets busy in the worldly things. Then his soul starts searching Mahtaab, and he is searching for her, and unable to find her. She is not actually dead, but actually sent some other time to the world where she has been wronged / killed unjustly and in search of her he then marries twice, both women named Mahtaab, now but he thinks that if he is going to die, he wants to be with 'that' Mahtaab, and wants to go with her back to Barzakh..... Also the stones are the burdens that every soul is carrying.... It might sound weird but that's what I keep thinking whenever I think about this drama... Barzakh: as the title predicts - it crosses the boundaries of time and space/life and death. There is regret and renewal, guilt and redemption. The tree of life, is now encased in a courtyard of memories, capturing the people who have passed. Fingers dipped in white, of maternal comforting figures, are trying to cleanse, white wash and cover up sins. Boys - one of whom is privileged, is trying to joke and perform, while the other is not privileged but blunt and truthful. The adult male figures are all varied, but the females are all kind, beautiful and tragic. The only issue for me sometimes is that I wanted some more scenes where the eye could rest and soak things in. Overall an engaging and intriguing watch.

#Barzakh Here's everything I've noticed in the teaser, trailer and first episode. - Sanam is not real for sure as she has a black stone on her black in the main poster, it almost clear in the series. She could Mehtab's baby girl (step-sibling thing) or she could be the one who was created and called from Aaka and probably we'll see how she was created from that tree in the lodge. - All walls had branches of trees or dry trees which shows Aka's perspective of life. - Mehtab was probably pregnant and her child was either killed or taken away after which she committed suicide (the rope hanging from the tree scene). - In the poster, every person has white stones in their hand, this means Fawad, M fawad, Aka & the child, they all can see the souls. - Who's the lady painting that bird and why the chef is giving food to souls? The chef and kid, both of them have some issue. (Also guys, just saying the performances are good or it's a fantastic story is not enough, watch the episodes again and again and talk about it like Indian reviewers does. It's good to praise but I think it'll be more exciting if you talk about the clues they have left for you)

You have sum up this drama correctly however as the name of the drama is Barzkh, this is happening in that world not in this world. All the characters are dead n are living in Barzkh. This is the story of those souls who have died due to bad circumstances. This is showing how these souls suffered when they were living in this world All those stones on their backs symbolized their burden. The first scene of the episode is very relevant to the story as it will show when this character (Sanam’s) was conceived.

Still the sensible thing would be to show that Moiz was sincere and what she saw was a misunderstanding, for he did run after her and was stopped by his friends. This is precisely what I was thinking. This flip of the Moiz's character does not make sense, especially given that it occurred the day after the wedding. Moiz was crazy about her, doing everything he could to have Andaleep in his life, and the next day, he was playing cricket. Andaleep's father's conversation with Numair about how he was correct when he refused to let Andaleep marry Moiz was proof that they did show this flip of Moiz just to justify Andaleep's father's action. Numair and Andaleep's track in Jafaa has successfully captured the audience's interest. Their edits took up the entire Instagram and Twitter feed, and Zara and Hassan's story hasn't changed since their wedding.

Barzakh: What phenomenal world-building! Impressive how seamlessly the supernatural elements were weaved into the seen reality. I have high hopes for this, loved that the narrative requires reading between the lines. Gorgeous landscapes! Jafaa: The story has answered all the questions of Deebu's parents being incompetent in their parenting roles. Very well done how they were ready to own up to and rectify their mistakes. And Dr. Numair's character is not that of a weak man. Well performed by Usman, Sehr and everyone. So glad they showed the humaneness of Numair & the nobility of his profession taking charge of the situation to recognize a traumatized young person rather than reacting like a jilted, childish dolt. Brownie points for writing strong characters displaying positive masculinity traits.

You are right, I think that she is his daughter and that blood spot was definitely due to childbirth and that last scene with the tree and the rope probably means she committed suicide after giving birth because perhaps the people found out and shamed her driving her to take her own life which is why Jaffar built the hotel on their graves and is so bitter towards them

About Barzakh They say it's not for everyone but i feel like it's not for every Muslim. What about the beliefs we have, you're touching on such an important concept of our religion, barzakh how can you? This is not a joke or something to make a drama on it. I am not sure in saying this but i feel it can be in the territories of shirk, because only Allah subhan watala knows about this and it's kept from us. Nobody knows what lies ahead of what is barzakh except Allah. So isn't it messing around, we believe in oneness of Allah and that every thing is in Allah's control then how can we make dramas about such things which is only Allah's territory. This is bad we have to think about it, enjoying it just for the sake of pleasure and saying that it's art , Is our faith important to us or not ? And what about vulgarity even the children are doing scenes which are very inappropriate for them to be in and LGBTQ. This worldly life is just an enjoyment of delusion. About barzakh, my only thing is that they could have made a lot of things a lot more subtle relating to the sexuality scenes. 1. They did not have to show the kids listening to the sex inside the room unless later in the story, they actually try to figure thesr things out. I think it was done only for the shock factor onscreen. 2. I wish they had shown Saifullah's sexuality in a more subtle manner. The way they showed it made it same as if this is the only thing a homosexual person thinks of when he looks at another man. It would have been so much better if we had understood this through some instant chemistry between the chef and Saifullah. Maybe they did it to make it more obvious for the Pakistani audience but it felt like spoon feeding and honestly slimy. That is my only criticism for the first episode.

Barzakh: in the ending scene, there are three women who sit side by side, one of them is clad in black, who's painting. I think that's Sanam's character's mother. I think she wasn't Aaqa's wife. Sanam has been born to his mistress, probably. Because all three women sit side by side, they have similar grievances. The other two, carrying the rock on their backs are his two wives.

ALSO.... I think Aaqa uses the body of a living woman to meet Mahtab in Barzakh. I think he's tried to do that two times before, which is why he married his previous wives. That woman who walks with a lantern in the middle of the night is his next victim, DID YOU SEE HOW HER ROPE GOT UNTIED ON ITS OWN? And that is why the girl seems to be in a trance. And and and..... All those villagers who're protesting to be able to meet their ancestors and Aaqa says that they have been punished, those ancestors might've conspired against Mahtab to have her killed while he was away. Mahtab was probably involved in some witchcraft. There can be SO many theories, cannot wait for all of them to unfold.

BARZAKH: Aamna , I am very sad that you being a literature student did not throw any light on the brilliant symbolism that has been used in Barzakh. It would have helped so many viewers to understand it better! The tree of life ( turning into tree of death too), the most evident parallel of Adam and Eve, the souls with the burden( as white stone) on their back which also kind of looks like wings as if almost awaiting to turn into fairies ( redemption and freedom), the Saifullah ‘s OCD of washing his hand almost directly draws a parallel to Lady Macbeth’s sleepwalking scene … his “sin” of having liking for men not getting washed away, I mean half of the story is told in the first episode simply through symbolism!! Needless to say the reference to the Serpent as Ouroboros ( in the title ) and as the Serpent but just as insignificant as a child’s toy ( the soft toy H mentions) is such a brilliant juxtaposition of paradox !! Please talk about them! Then that scene where the Aka says that there was absolutely nothing before him to this place - alluding to the fact that he was the first Man to start the journey of the mankind. The Italian chef serving food to the souls and Saifullah having a sort of epiphany in that scene i the car looking at the chef’s jeans suggests how Saifullah thinks in his head that his desire is otherworldly ! Please please do a talk on symbolism in Barzakh or at least touch upon the key ones in each of your reviews of the series so that everyone can appreciate the beauty of this amazing work. It was beautiful to watch!! Love from India❤

Jafaa - Usman Mukhtar nailed the character! Uski dress par saalan gira kar uski zindagi kharab kar di... I know, this is not the correct dialogue, but the expressions and the way he handled the situation, the way he handled Andaleeb, all were fantastic. Mois - just like a child, as soon as the girl was out of the picture, he forgot her? This was difficult to understand, but that scene was so impactful when she went to his home and he was playing. Seher Khan did a wonderful job. Noor Jehan - now we will see how Noor Bano handles Noor Jahan. In Radd - How did Zain know where would he find Jameel? That was not Jameel's house, and Jameel was surprised to see him, that meant, he didn't invite him there. Still Jameel didn't tell Zain about his mother. Why? Aamna rightly said - Jameel's mom didn't know who Zain was. Barzakh - I am speechless, unable to express my feelings - That's exactly what speechless means LOL. But the photography, the story telling, the expressions, the suspense. Everything you see, you get curious. You watch more, you have so many questions, that is the beauty of this great project. Can't wait to watch the next one. Great job team Barzakh.

I can’t use dirty bathrooms either, once I visited someone’s house in a bathroom emergency but when I entered the bathroom, I decided to hold it a little longer 😂.

There is this person in Punjab who does vlog I’m blanking his name. A very simple family living in village. He took a trip with his family and he was educating his kids that this is another bag in which we will be throwing all our trash. We are a nation of puray likhay jaahil. Hope our next generation learn from their parents’ mistakes and make this country a better place Aameen

Barzakh is a gem , I am enjoying it thoroughly . Thank you Asim Abbasi for writing such a unique story, it forces you to think , not a moment of boredom . Lots of symbolism which I am trying to decipher . In short a unique story with layered characters . Eagerly awaiting the next episode

Jameel mother was their at Emaan's engagement, which was the same day as her grandson's naming ceremony (not sure what it is called, or if it was indeed a naming ceremony). It was the same day, Emaan said no to Jameel's cousin.

#jafaa. I think it was not very unrealistic reaction of the parents. Real good parents CAN make bad decisions with best of intentions specially pakistani parents who always have more say in their adult children's lives than generally other(western) parts of the world. If you look around in our society, obedience is considered the biggest virtue of children,"ye hamara bohat farmabardar bacha/bachi hay". The moment they sense a rebellion ,their panic mode switches on and there is a greater chance that they make a wrong decision because of lack of clarity due to high emotions. Moiz has been shown a weak person throughout(mum says NO, he can't rebel unlike andaleeb,Andaleeb's dad threatens him,he puts his head down and turns away),so he gaslights her but through Numair's character we got the other perspective as well.
