That's the problem with religious texts. If it's a good story or a good advice, it's being taken word for word, but if it's about violence, it's a metaphor. This is a very fundamental problem.

I studied Islam for more than 10 years but I didn't become extremist! instead, I learned the ideology of self discipline, preventing myself from committing inappropriate actions and am proud to say I am a peace loving and law abiding citizen! by the way, I am also from those marginalized community being referred

Religion is cancer, religion is poison. Islam is cancer, Islam is poison. Don't blame poverty for religious extremism, Bin Laden was a son of a billionaire, the leader of ISIS was also well-off. Many of those who fought in Marawi are from well-off families. Islam is the problem. ISIS are the true followers of Islam.

Good for you. Muslims are some of the most honorable and loving people I've met. They have a strong sense of community and I admire that. There will always be bad apples, whether it's in politics, religion or in our society. It's so wrong to generalize.

@monjir mayo first of all i know for a fact that there are good Muslims and bad Muslims. and there are also good Christians and bad Christians. liberal society has already pointed out the wrongdoings of the latter. but how come the Muslim community barely gets any criticism as if you NEVER contributed to the whole mess? i am assuming that the majority of Muslims are good. but a huge chunk of it's followers is still violent. and it is these radicalized minorities(?) that cause the most damage. and ,yes, they use ISLAM and certain passages of the Koran to justify their violence. one could say that the radicals have a twisted view of the holy scriptures. but i think its just a matter of interpretation. there are still violent scriptures in the koran just as the bible does.
