Sometimes you just needs a small gesture to make an example to understand everything....i have seen it all i have studied the basal ganglia as well as the parkinson ds for the exam but couldn’t really relate the way how it all connects together....just that small gesture of trying to walk but couldn’t initiate the movement all connects everything for me and i dont need to mug up every information its all making sense now thank you 😁

I have a question. Does the indirect pathway play a role in stopping a movement? Also, Are both pathways working at the same time or individually?
@hamnamuzaffar21454 жыл бұрын
indirect pathway is an inhibitory pathway and yes both pathways work at the same time. take writing as an example for the direct and indirect pathways.

I mostly have difficulty understanding the “initiating of movement” part...You make a comment about the corticospinal tract going direction from the cortex to the spinal cord to initiate movement (with the BG moreso acting to modulate and smooth that movement) but it sounds like the BG has more of a role in actually initiating movement...So which is actually allowing the movement to be initiated?
@hamnamuzaffar21454 жыл бұрын
in the last part he told us that substantia nigra plays a role in "initiating movement" as well as "smoothing the movement". the direct pathway is giving signal to motor cortex to move but the one initiating and exciting the already excited pathway is actually dopamine which is released from SN. take parkinson's disease as an example; the patients have difficulty to "initiate" the movement because their dopamine are dying and not reaching the striatum but once they start moving then they are doing fine but then they get "resting tremors" in which the underlying problem is dopamine not reaching the striatum so there's no one to "smooth" out the movement. so substantia nigra plays a very important supporting role in DP and IDP.

Guys plz help me I am very confused with cardiac action potential and I need an answer for this : Which one makes the cardiac muscle contract is it the depolarization by sodium ions or by calcium ions Which makes the actin and myosin slides past each other ?
