Gorgeous!!! This makes so much more sense to me than the post - base bump many people favor. As a perfectionist I love having more control over my work. Thanks for this video! What a beautiful result!

I love the idea of the blue additive but how about when you add a toner on top of that to your highlights as I would be coloring the root before I highlight. Blue plus yellow equals green! What type of toners would i need to avoid to avoid that ugly clash of colors when applying toner and avoid ending up w green hair?

I didn't exactly understand why the baby hairs around the face bleached at the bowl and then highlighted on top of that, but oh well. The outcome is nice, although it does look very much like a full head of color.

+Emma sharkey It's not about one being better than the other. They're two different people and they're both artistic, professional and skilled in their own right. It's fine if you personally favor one over the other though.

Hey Jason ! Great video! Question, when you do the bleach on hairline how long do you keep it on for? I just worry about the hair being a little warm around that area but I guess you can foil through it. Thanks!

What would you use for the base if you dont have dpHue? I use Redkin and have been using 7na w/20 vol. still noticing a little warmth! Love her base! Beautiful color!
@JoseRivera-te9hw
@JoseRivera-te9hw 7 жыл бұрын
Cami Lykins If you've noticed, Justin used an additive to cut out more of the warmth. Also, 7na has neutral as it's primary tone and ash as it's secondary tone. Therefore there is less ash than neutral, and not enough ash to get rid of that warmth. In order to neutralize unwanted orange tones, you need a good, ash base. Which is why Justin used a blue additive. He also used a neutral-ash base to soften some of the ash, since neutral softens tones. It all depends on the look you want to achieve. Yeah, it's a lot, but it becomes second nature once you understand it. Hope this helps.

On top of that it helps ensure the foils are as close to the scalp as possible and that will avoid bleeders and tiger spots.

Maybe the outfit is just for the video.... idk if anyone can tell but in all of his videos, no one else is in the salon. Its just them. Makes me think it happens not on salon hours. Also, no one goes to Justin Anderson because of what his assistant looks like. He's a celebrity hair colorist, people go to see him. Not her. Especially someone of his caliber, I really wouldn't care one bit.

Why not use an 8.1 with no additive? 0 has Red And Yellow plus BG color so underproductive if you're cutting orange.

not really sure what the initial root application was for......and if it were to do anything, wouldn't 1.9% been better?...you'll still get some lift with 3% and ANY lift at all will expose warmth....I think the industry is becoming too bogged down in all this technical shit, pre- toning before toning AGAIN....then 'glossing'........breaking the base.....work for the sake it sometimes......it just seems to impress everyone.....
