Olly, big thanks for your video. We used your general strategy of the leveler blocks, and applied it to our cabinetry. What a great trick! Thanks so much for sharing this. Our project turned out great.

Nice fix! I'll keep an eye out for any 1/2 shod kitchen fitters. There must be more shoddy unavailable too! On the wiring, that's an earth bonding cable to earth the copper water pipes. All the pipes should be earthed against static shocks. But from a practical point of view I wouldn't loose any sleep as all that pvc push fit stuff will have been why they've not bothered to reconnect it. Not the proper way, but not worth worrying about as a Tennant.

+Richard “BrainFizz” Morley Thanks, Rick. I've met plenty of tradesmen and I've seen a number of locals who all walk with a limp... It's now a case of finding to whom the shoe fits. ;-)

It looks it is possible to vacuum underneath the base in case there is mold etc by removing a toe kick, instead of removing the base completely. I will try. Thx
@OllyParryJones3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome and good luck. It should indeed be possible. Just depends on how it's been attached.

@@OllyParryJones Thx sir! I will find out next weekend when my kid moves into her condo after escrow closes. Hope it will be a quick vacuum and then seal the area with mold sealer.

Did I see electrical wires and a socket under the sink? If so is that really allowed to have it like that?
@OllyParryJones9 жыл бұрын
+Fredrik J It is indeed. I've no idea if it's 'okay' but that's how it was when I moved here and it's the landlord's responsibility in any case. ;-)
@Sweepy3729 жыл бұрын
+Olly Parry-Jones Well, here in Sweden we have quite a few regulations on electricity in areas that have waters like a sink...I really don't know the rules myself, but the sockets need to be of special type, and placed on a certain height and be connected to a RCD...If worst come to worst you can get harmed by chocks from metal sinks etc and the home insurance company would likely not reimburse you in an event of fire for example. Perhaps worth checking up?

I wish I had those easy off 2-screw baseboards

As easy as they are to unscrew, they don't look very professional with the heads showing. How are yours fixed?

A good idea. Pity about the sound quality but with closed captions it is possible to work out what is being said. Thanks for posting this.

Thumbs up to the video, thumbs down to your flat, it really is shoddily built. All those water couplings in different materials, and sitting on top of electrical wires. Do get a RCCB installed if you can (leave out the fridge and freezer circuit). After seeing what was under that shelf, I would probably demand the landlord took the cost of the installation.
@OllyParryJones9 жыл бұрын
+Eskil Eriksson Thanks, Eskil. Yes, it's entirely the landlord's responsibility and is something I could look in to. I've been here almost two years and have quite enjoyed making my own repairs and taking things apart... I think I'm running out of undiscovered places for things to hide in, now (unless I start tearing down the ceiling... ;-) ).
@eskileriksson44579 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think you have done most that had to be done. It certainly is better know than two years ago. And has generated a string of nice videos, so win-win.

Or you could just measure properly and stack wood pieces.
@OllyParryJones5 жыл бұрын
That would require wood of varying thickness to compensate for the floor not being level. Another option would've been folding wedges.
