I love this map, and so does the most of ARK community. You can do top 10, 50, or even 100 Base locations on this map. You can build bases almost everywhere on this map (Murder Murder Snow), in the underwater, water platform base, and the list goes on. The only problem that you can have on this map is lack of element, new creatures post Aberration dlc, and some of new resources. Some of those problems can be fixed by Gacha farm. PS. I wish that they will give us this map in ARK 2 with some creatures update.

I recently transferred to Ragnarok for the first time (single player) and this video is fantastic.. I love how you show the spots Biome by Biome, while also guiding on the areas in general.. Its one of those videos you keep coming back to as you progress on the map yourself.. So much to learn.. ❤

Loving this series! Its like a trip down memory lane at times. I think it would be cool for you to drop in screen shots of some of your builds at the locations.

I built inside that cave, where you love getting your otters- I noticed on my single player if you build on the bottom floor, you can negate covering up too many metal respawns, by building on the island with the pillar, at the water entrance (above is a land entrance, at around 20.4, 24.0). Also if you build spike walls lining the opening above the tree that grows in there, you can block off a few of the Dino spawns above. (For those that aren’t familiar, the “Otter Cave” does have a natural skylight and Carnos can fall into your pool - if you don’t block off the paths and cliffs surrounding the area. It’s expensive, I had to tap into mods early game on one play through and another I waited for midgame - just because I wanted metal spikes and a few turrets to guard the looming death pot above me.) I will say, if you put in the effort, the pools are deep enough to host some serious water breeding and the workabouts for keeping the metal spawns can be a pain - if you’re working with official vanilla settings; but it’s worth it. You can build a PvE base that puts even the best builders to shame. The cave is actually ginormous and it has so many hiding spots. You could reinforce the hecck out of it and fortify it to such extents. Practically impregnable. The only curse is the bloody gaping mouth overhead. 🙃

Still haven't found a single artifact cave, only the little caves for building. I think I may have found one in the jungle ruins area, but I was too afraid to go any further when it said boss available or something. Lol

Rag! The first map I ever played and still a sentimental favorite. I have fond memories of my first base that I built in Viking Bay. Them my tribemate said he was going to tame a Giga and I was like "what's that?"

Another plus for that southwestern island with the orchard is that the wind is always blowing hard enough to get your electricity from a wind turbine.

Great video Phlinger! I'm on Ext. and pondering going to Rag to get some Gigas to breed. This video May (??LOL) have helped me decide to make the jump to help prepare for King Titan! Your vids have help me finish the first 3 story maps completely and about 2/3rd done on Extinction and I much appreciate all the help you've given!!

I'm currently building on ragnarok. I've build on the sand right near the exit of the wyvern cave at the bottom of the highlands. Yes right near the all the megalania spawns. I'm in the process of moving to the desert but I'm tired of building in boxes and it'll be the first time I'm building a super structure so wish me luck ✌️ keep up the awesome work phlinger and I hope you have an awesome day 👍

I love Ragnarok, first map I ever played when I started in June 2021. Except for the buggy areas near Green ob, and the Wyvern overspawns which I think are caused by the ClassicFlyers mod (incidentally if anyone has a suggestion of a replacement/better mod for flyers I'm all ears). @Phlinger Phoo- love your content mate! Keep it up! :)

One of my favorite locations is down in the canyon on the river near that mesa behind you in your ending shots. There is a small island in the middle of the river on the inland side of the first land bridge near the mouth of the river. It is fairly easy to reach early on by using a raft if you don't have a flier. Most of the front of the island is extremely flat, so it is easy to build on, and you can setup a fairly good sized base. Most of the island is high enough out of the water that nothing is really able to climb up from the water except at the back, and there is a steep hill towards the back, so nothing can easily get around to the front. It is far enough from the canyon walls that anything falling from above cannot land on the island and no fliers come down that far. I put up some walls to make sure nothing can get up, but you could easily do without them, so it is extremely safe. There is stone on the island itself, and more stone as well as lots of trees on the shore of the canyon on either side of the island. So there are plenty of resources within easy reach to get established. And being right on the river at the mouth, you have easy access to the sea for water adventures. Once you get established, you will definitely want a flier since you are inside the canyon, but virtually every resource you could want is within a very short distance. On the river bottom around the island itself, there are silica pearl spawns, and because there are no real aquatic threats right there, it is easy to harvest them without scuba and without an aquatic mount. You are just below the snow biome mountain south of Viking bay, so you have access to everything there, including the four oil nodes where you can place oil pumps on top of the mountain. Better yet, on the north canyon wall next to the island about half way up to the mountain is a cliff and there are two or three more oil nodes right there. You can put pumps there without even having to go up into the snow. Either way, that is six or so oil nodes within a fairly short distance for a constant and easy source of oil. Additionally, around the aforementioned mesa on the south canyon wall, there are crystal and obsidian nodes as well as metal, and just south of the mesa, there is a ton more metal. Since you can see the mesa near the island in that last shot, so all that stuff you were showing at the end is not very far up river from that location, which also means the griffin spawns on the north and south sides of the river are right there. On the east side of that mesa, you can get doeds, ankys, and theries. The swamp area you were showing is not that far away. You have to travel to get to the desert or the redwoods for stuff exclusive to those areas as well as to the wyvern areas, but, overall, it is a great location for most of what you could want.

Love having a video on base spots with only a PvE perspective, it's not easy to find. Side note though, my fav spot to build is in the canyon area. But while you mentioned the tall pillars, I actually love building under them. There's a really good area in the middle of them which can easily be walled off in certain spots to give you a big area that is safe. I like to build my base on the shelf overlooking the water that has a bunch of rocks and metal on it. It's flat and provides plenty of room by itself for what you'll need.

I built in the canyon but spinos kept coming to kill me
@TRutledge2 жыл бұрын
@@shawnsoh597 Yah make sure to build spike walls and put down gates to block off the area inside the pillars and you'll have a safe area. Honestly I think the Kapros in the area are more annoying

Thank you so much for this. I have a good water base in the cave under the lighthouse, full with all industrial stuff and some farms but no Tek yet. I have decided to go to the "Herbivore islands" to the west instead for the main base. I am doing the story islands but this is my "cheat island" where I go when I get bored or give up finding a high level tame on The Island map. Great vids mate. I am catching up late on them but I even watch your older serier. My only paid sub on KZbin :)

Cant even get near the castle to try to build on it! I put on god mode to check it out and see if there was a cave or loot or anything, and I was so swarmed with bats that I couldn't even move or see. Luckily I knew the cheat gun will teleport you wherever you point it, otherwise... Idk there was no way to tranq, kill, or trap them all. Never again!
