Heck of alot of work for a one man shop. Whew! Neat trick with the magnets. I bought two to make torch holders, now I need two more. The handrails are just fine.

I would like to call you a friend because of our work ethic. I did not realize until I semi retired and moved to NC that I would pass your shop at least once a month going to Mitiki Coal company in Maryland to weld and replace refractory in the coal dryer. Your work ethic is the same that I have used all my life. I am now 69 years old and don't move around as good as I use to , but some day day before I pass I would like to meet you in person just to shake your hand.

To move or not to move the existing handrail pipes, that is the question. It’s like a buddy of mine is fond of saying, “What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve”. As to whether I would have moved them or not, that depends. Given what you said about them being like that for decades, probably not.

Any reason why you don't zip it with the plasma cutter? Less cleanup afterward?
@NBSWELDING3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting
@NBSWELDING3 ай бұрын
Dunno exactly what you mean by zip it with the plasma but if you talking about how I cut the pieces of sheet steel then I'd say the saw does a better job...if it was aluminum I may have used the plasma but the saw does better on the thin steel

I think the channel looks good and bent sheet metal backs are awesome. So right about the skill saw getting a crooked start, that second notch is sweet. I have a Metal Devil brand skill saw. Seems like the Metal Devil blades wear out fast. Any recommendations on blades? I had a friend recommend Diablo blades from Home Depot thought about giving them a try.
@NBSWELDING3 ай бұрын
I've never used an Metal Devil or Diablo so I dunno. The blades I use in the Milwaukee are Evolution blades and they do good...the worst thing on them is rusty material....if you cut clean new steel they last quite awhile

@NBSWELDING3 ай бұрын
I'm happy with the brake...it's the only one I've ever tried so I got nothing to compare it to...mine is the 50" for 14 guage steel (great on 1/8" aluminum) The fab shops I've worked in had expensive hydraulic brakes...I can't justify the cost for one of those...my steel supplier will bend thick parts for me at a good price

Consider the repetitive work making arrows in the 1300’s before gunpowder, oh my. “During the 14th century, English longbowmen were able to fire hundreds, and in large battles thousands, of arrows in the air at once. The English crown ordered war arrows in the thousands for their armies and navies, typically in sheaves of 24 arrows. Between 1341 and 1359, the English crown received 51,350 sheaves, or 1,232,400 arrows” Talk about repetitive.
