Baseball Stars 2 is one of my all-time favorite baseball games, right up there with Base Wars and Super Baseball Simulator 1.000.

Hey, can you throw different types of pitches? That was about the only thing I liked about the only baseball game I ever played, which was _Lasorda_ for Sega Genesis. This game is leagues better than that one, let me tell you.

​@LPetal86 Yup. When you hit A to throw, hold down for a fastball, left and right for a screwball, up for a knuckleball, and you can curve its path midflight.

Oh you brought back a great memory of a baseball game. Baseball Simulator 1.000! I've always loved the sports games. The Sega Genesis was my favorite system mainly due to the great sports games, especially NHL Hockey, Madden, Hardball III. I forgot about Baseball Simulator 1.000. ⚾️ Baseball ⚾️ is my favorite game to play for real and on video games. I used to love watching it until my team became the biggest joke in the MLB. The Brewers. Did you ever do a Baseball Simulator game? I'll see if I can find it.

This Baseball game almost got me to buy a Neo-Geo system. It was that iconic to me. Great great game, and a awesome video!

There was something about this game that made me love it to death. It has the flair and excitement of a fighting game but the nutty part about it, its BASEBALL. In a sea of Ken Griffey Jr baseball games and the eventual wave of Acclaim baseball games, this one in particular had an identity that made it stick out in a good way.

Man, SNK and their charismatic, over-the-top games. SNK is like Betamax: superior quality but despite some success, never caught on in the U.S. because of how expensive the systems and games were. Well, at least we got ports for the other consoles back in the day (eheh, but with varying results...).

These are awesome. The pacing in sports themed games like this tend to keep up with all other gaming genres. The less realism they have, the more fun they tend to get.

Had this game on my AES. Sound got a bit of an upgrade on the CD version for sure! Too bad they didn’t put more of that rinky voice announcer in it, they had room on the disc for sure. Good job as always!

I've played quite a bit of Super Baseball 2020, which I think is built on this same engine, but never seen this one. The player images and animation give it a lot more personality. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one; looks like it's available on the Switch eShop.

I like this one much better than 2020. It played alright, but it had so little personality and I thought it was ugly.

Have you ever had issues with your Neo Geo CDZ? I have the second model with the pop-top tray and I have had nothing but issues with it. It truly is a fix or repair every few months kind of machine. My AES on the other hand is absolutely solid. I have had it since 2008 and it has been a very sleek tank. Even my mod chip in the CDZ goes on the fritz and needs to be fixed all the time. It got so bad that I had to switch from a toggle switch to a button that sticks constantly. Addendum- My Neo Geo CDZ is actually not working as we speak. It is at a friend's shop getting repaired for the umpteenth time. Baseball Stars I+II are excellent. Thankfully, I have them both on the AES.

Is there a way to make original homebrew Neo Geo CD games? Also, if there is a way to make a Baseball Stars 3, here's some things to add. 1. More songs ingame. 2. Increase the number of teams for Fighting and Exciting Leagues to 12 each, with two divisions each (6 teams per division), with option for custom expansion teams made by the player. 3. Team/player editor. 4. Girls' Baseball Stars League, with option for BS2 rosters or BS3 expanded roster. 5. Various team/player celebration animations. 6. An original opening anime style baseball opener to set the mood for the game.

Fun Fact: Alongside Zelda 3, Baseball Stars were some of Will Smith's favorites back in the 90s, there is a B&W picture of him playing the NES port of the first game.

The way the foul ball zooms right towards the camera makes me wish it smashes the screen. Did any [baseball video] games utilize that idea? If this game does, I just wasn't able to watch the whole thing. Edit: I forgot to specify.
