Baseline: Russia Must Leave Ukraine Before Any Talks Begin

My video argues that the baseline for negotiations with Russia must be clearly established in accordance with international law and fundamental principles of justice. The US, specifically Washington is operating off another baseline.
Specifically, the prerequisite for any diplomatic discussions should be Russia’s full withdrawal from all occupied Ukrainian territories. Only after this condition is met can conversations regarding reparations, security guarantees, and broader diplomatic resolutions take place.
Anything less is Washington not understanding the totality of the matter and how setting a just baseline is really for making the world a better place.Evidence based on history and understanding international law, is that he current talks around negotiations has been skewed by Russian narratives that attempt to redefine the baseline in a way that legitimizes territorial conquest.
However, international law, including United Nations resolutions, the Budapest Memorandum, and the Minsk Agreements, provides a clear legal framework: territorial aggression cannot be rewarded. Accepting any alternative baseline risks normalizing the violation of sovereign borders and undermining the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity.I am a monetary economist but I use my critical thinking to examines the current negotiations, demonstrating simply with logic and analogy how Russia has strategically shifted the global conversation to a baseline of acceptable terms.
We can not think this way. If we want to make the world a better place we have to have a reality check with ideals of goodness and justice -demanding the full restoration of Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.

Dear Mark, Thank you for your love of justice, love of God, love of humanity, live of right living, love of honesty, love of kindness, and love of Truth! I agree and stand with you about negotiations with Russia and forced removal of all Russian military forces from Ukraine before the negotiations even begin. The reparations should be a part of the negotiations either with gold, valuable commodities, and even possibly land. Russia is a failed state and must be forced into compliance until justice is truly met. Thank you for your dedication and your insight. Heroyam Slava. Slava Ukraini. Shalom from Baytown, Texas!!!

Good point mark, thank you. Russia illegally occupied a big chunk of Ukraine. For serious talks you need at least some form of symmetry meaning indeed that Russia should withdraw from Ukraine before any negotiations. Starting talks from the current frontline means to irresponsibly reward aggression which the civilized world will come to deeply regret later.

Not many people mention the nuclear proliferation ramifications of russia coming away with something from its invasion. If that occurs, dozens of countries will be encouraged to develop or obtain nuclear weapons from others to protect themselves from the big players with them that see them just as little serfs in their sphere of influence.

Right on, Mark. Russia out of 1991 U.N. recognized Ukrainian territories. then talks can begin... (Russia out of Ukraine means the Ukrainian military controlling the ground in Crimea and Donbas, etc. and the millions of Z-Patriot civilian Russians imported to the occupied territories since 2014 are forcibly DEPORTED - back to where they came from). And yes, Russia must disintegrate into separate countries. The ethnic populations [long held prisoner by Muscovy] must self-determine

You're right, international borders had been set with Russia present when they were set. And Russia is already big enough, they have no reason to complain anyway. Russia has always been a little off, not at home in international law. Not that they don't understand or can't understand but just not wanting to. But negotiating that Russia would have to give up their weapons is going to be an incredibly difficult negotiation. That basically means demanding complete surrender and giving up sovereignty. I'm not sure if they wouldn't rather use their nucleair arsenal. And we all know that would be absolutely devastating. In the spirit of the Russian doctrine, demanding giving up that arsenal is like invading Russia and they would use them. So maybe the solution will be for Ukraine to have such weapons, although that does mean expansion of nucleair threats worldwide, which then again Russia is in progress of doing. Oh well, The situation is difficult and I'll support Ukraine since they are within their right.
