Every time I watch one of your videos, I really, honestly DO want to say, "Why come did no one ever tell me all this?!?" Because, I'm not a Spring chicken anymore, ya know?, and I've purchased a few bottles, over the years, of various foundations, in various brands, in price ranges from Dollar General, to, "Please follow me.....Madam, if you will, please have a seat there. Coffee? Tea? Very good. Giancarlo will join you momentarily." I've been deigned everything from cool with neutral undertones, to neutral with cool warm tones, to Winter to Spring to Autumn to alien...and no one, NO ONE has ever sold me foundation that matched me. I've always had to mix colors and/or use different shades on different parts of my face, chin, neck, or décolleté. And, all that was still before thinking about setting powder. I look forward to your next installment. Finally, someone who makes sense.

Thanks for talking science about the 'warm' and 'cool' sides of spectrum vs. conflicting foundation world definitions! Something all beauty channels should watch and try to understand instead of confusing their millions of subscribers. I appreciate your explaining the process but I have a long way to go in seeing the subtle difference in color...in the meanwhile I will continue to spend on foundation I can't use... :(

Thank you for being one of the first beauty influencers that make sense about the “warm vs”cool “ nonsense . It’s really annoying to me . This is what I was saying both yellow and pink or red are warm colors . I do think it’s the blue wavelength that makes skin tones cooler but overall no skin tone is “cool” even in albinoism . They lack pigment , which means they technically they would be neutral because they don’t lean yellow or red . They often have surface tones but that not pigments . That being said olive would be the cooler tone because out of all the skin tone it is cooler and people are once again picking up those green tones from wavelength that contains the blue . It’s like with blue eyes , there’s no blue melanin, the wavelength reflecting back to your skin and then of course genes and dna . I also think people need to stop with the stupid guidelines like the color of veins when all the color of your veins lean cool ! And any skin tone can have any color veins . I’ve seen pink skin with green veins and yellow with purple . I’ve seen yellow skin tones naturally flatter cool tones and red undertones naturally flatter warm tones . It’s not about what “undertone “ or temperature you are , it about what individually compliments you and contrast you . That’s why color draping is a lot better and looking into seasons to make your own custom palletes . I hope you make a video on this since there’s need to be more videos debunking this . I have been watching your videos because it actually makes sense lol.

Thank you so much for this video and to talk about racism. I’m starting to do a MUA course and I wanna be prepared for all skin types. This series of videos are helping me so much. I bought 3 salt pallet with all the bundles and I will do like you suggested to do. A pallet for each color of skin. A pallet for light skin tone, another for medium and another for deep skin. And I bought a mini one for myself HAHAHAHAHAHA. You inspire me so much. I can’t wait to try all your products and different skin type. I watched a video about a MUA talking that she doesn’t like to use cream products in her clients because it doesn’t last as much as powder product. At the same time I don’t like to use too much powder products because it looks so creepy in real life. Is it possible you do a video taking about cream products X powder and how to make cream products last more time?

I just need to know what the best foundations are for a yellow-as-hell girl like me. I swear that even “yellow” foundations (recommended by others) tend to be too pink for me. I tend to be light-medium (closer to light.) I have dry skin so I prefer a foundation that I don’t have to set with powered but also won’t transfer like crazy. My skin is pretty clear so I prefer a light-medium coverage for daily use, and maybe possibly a medium-full for special occasions. I’m asking for a lot... I know. Haven’t been able to find a foundation that’s my undertone and right formula.
@rikkirikki48927 жыл бұрын
IVANA girl I am in your boat. I'm gonna copy and paste what I wrote to another yellow pale girl above so I don't have to retype everything 😜 Maybe it'll help a bit. Hi! I'm just like you! I'm still looking for a formulation for my skin type (I'm very dry) but my best colour match has been Fit Me! Matte and Poreless. I don't have the shade on me right now, but it's their lightest shade in their warm range. Make SURE it's Matte and Poreless, the dewey finish range is actually different despite the color names being the same! If you are normal to oily, it will work very well for you -- it works for me if I'm extremely well-moisturized. My friend recommends Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundations and she is as pale as me, but a bit more neutral. I haven't bought it yet because I have a hard time committing to $40 foundation, but it's pale enough that she has used it to mix into foundations that are a touch too dark. If you like a more natural/light finish, I found that NARS has a great tinted moisturizer line that runs very pale. The shade "terre-neuve" (I think?) worked very well for me, although it leaned more neutral than warm. There are actually quite a few options for us out there, although it is slightly more difficult than for other pale/white girls as even the slightest oxidation can look really odd when you already don't want any orangey-pink undertones. Those are just the ones I know off the top of my head as I'm still looking for my holy grail foundation and I'm not a huge makeup junkie, but it's what works for me! Oh, I've also be using the L'Oréal True Match in their palest/warm shade. It's still not quite exact, but it's super cheap and easy to find and a very basic but solid formula so it's my go-to if I'm having a hard time finding something and I'm too dry for the Fit Me! (Which is often lol) I hope this gives you a starting point!

I've heard in other tutorials that one thing you have to watch out for when color matching your foundation is the oxydation of your foundation. But WHAT does that mean? What would that look like? And how do I avoid it? Or what exactly do I have to look out for?
@hallievanoutryve31093 жыл бұрын
It’s when oils from your face darken the foundation color. So oily folks are more likely to deal with oxidation, using an oil controlling primer, and/or powdering on top of primer before foundation. Jackie Aina talks about oxidation, I recommend checking her channel out if you have oily skin

I have had so incredibly much trouble finding a foundation. I am very fair (usually one step from the lightest), but also very yellow-toned. So literally every foundation I've tried so far makes my face look red, even when I've asked for a yellow-toned foundation. Do you have any recommendations? Also, if my neck is a shade or two lighter than my face, do you recommend choosing a foundation that's a shade darker than my neck, or choosing a shade to match my neck and using Bronzer to bring life back?

A.L. Johns I'm also very fair and I recently found out that it was actually not my paleness but the fact that I had my undertones all wrong! Check my comment above to the OP, and see if any of those will work for you. If the Tarte foundation is not a match for you (it really is the palest of the pale) I would maybe try playing with differently toned foundations to see if you maybe aren't looking for quite the correct thing!

My skin tone is pink. If I matched foundation to my skin tone, it would look like I used blush instead of setting powder. If I use a yellow base, I look like I used neutral powder. I've tried using green to cancel out the red and I just look pale, sick, green, or too blue since ALL the drug store greens have blue in them. Honestly the struggle is real
