Love these back to the basic videos. It seems kind of obvious, but blush, contour, highlighter, even lighter and darker foundation (outer perimeter being a touch darker) can all make a huge difference. If you can answer the question of why some people’s faces eat blush while others don’t I would love to know. Lol

SpiritsOfTheNight I do this too! I feel like I can't help but dust a bit of blush all over once I've done my cheeks. It looks so pretty. For me it dates back to the 90's when I was a teen and I only had blush and no bronzer. :) **creaky voice** BACK IN MY DAY...

@@MeganMcIntosh oml back when there was no bronzer that sounds amazing lol
@MeganMcIntosh6 жыл бұрын
SpiritsOfTheNight there was already bronzer, but it wasn't a category that everyone had yet I think. :) I don't think it was a staple like it is now. Maybe kinda like how highlighter is a staple now for a lot of people, but I don't think it was even ten years ago. My judgement could be off, but that's how I see it.:)

I love that you are back with this series! I have found it so supremely helpful. I also love blush and have a question I haven’t found addressed elsewhere: how to use different blush placement for different effects. I’m thinking in particular of the way zooey deschanel’s artist has done her blush in the past. Since I have a similar face shape and coloring as well as a passion for an almost over-blushed look, I’ve been trying to imitate it without the same effect. Her blush extends around her face (I’m thinking her makeup in New Girl) imitating a flush that looks almost like exertion. How do I find the right placement using my bone structure? How do I find the right tone? Is it dependent on the tone of the surrounding areas? Basically I’m all in for Blush 201: Intermediate Placement.

I tried it and it works on my face, even though it's wide, to my surpise :D. I usually keep blush contained on the cheekbones, blended out but not all over like this. Thanks for suggesting this. It reminded me of a Sephora video that suggested applying blush in a sideways 8 motion starting at the back of the cheekbone.

I've seen the two color blush process used by Bobbi Brown. If I remember correctly, she used the pop of color on the apple of the cheek, where it seems like your pop of color is higher, on the cheekbone. I LOVE the result that your application produces! Using your placement technique, if you were to use a highlighter on the cheeks, where would you apply it? Over the lighter wash of blush, or above it? Or, with this blush technique, do you opt not to use a highlighter? Ahead of time, thank you!

I am also a blush fangirl! I love using 2 blushes as well. Sometimes one is not enough. I have trouble with placement when mixing all of the things together...bronzer, blush, highlight, cheek contour. Let's be honest I don't usually bother with cheek contour. I like bronzer on the highest points of my face but I also like highlighting the cheekbones. So are they both supposed to go in the same spot in that case? I usually bronze liberally first, hitting the tops of cheekbones and other high points, then blush in the cheekular area (more of all-over cheek wash like the first color you used here), then highlight on cheekbone. But by that point I feel like the cheek bronze is a moot point, because I've got blush encroaching upwards on the bronzer and highlight chilling out on that zygomatic bone (cool word, by the way). Should I perhaps bronze less and blush more, higher up on the cheeks perhaps instead of that cheekular bronzer? OK thanks in advance for understanding why I'm making a huge deal about small differences in where I put different colors of powders on my face. :)

May I ask how you would approach applying blush on someone with high colouring? I fear blusher because I know regardless of what I do to cover my redness it's going to poke through sooner or later. Doesn't stop me buying it though;-)

I am so glad you are back. I had given up hope that you would ever return to KZbin. So I do have a question, I am super pale, as in the lightest shade of 99.9% of foundations, so everything looks so dark on me; eyeshadows, bronzers, blush, you name it, and it looks really dark and over done. So I then freak out when I apply it and frantically buff it until no sign of it is left on my face. For super pale skin, how do you find that sweet spot of having a product show up with out it standing out so much? I use a light hand and very little product but is just a constant struggle. Also, have you read the Beauty Myth? I specialize in international relations with a focus on war, women, and genocidal rape so for one of my classes I just read the Beauty Myth and as a makeup lover, it was conflicting. Just been recommending it to fellow beauty lovers, not to convert them from makeup, but just because.

I feel like whenever I put blush on I always look old. Not like I am getting on in years, but like I'm doing my makeup the way my mom's generation would. Dated, I guess. Thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Is it possible that blush just doesn't look good on me? (If it matters, I'm 34 and have never once liked how I looked with blush). Thanks! you're the best beauty tutor (beautor?) on the Tube.

Maybe it will come up in the highlighting video but I stopped wearing blush because I feel like when I bronze/ contour, then put blush on, then also put highlight on everything looks muddy/ there’s not enough space on my face for all three? Because then the highlight ends up too high and the bronzer ends up too low? It’s almost as if my face isn’t big enough for all three? I’m starting to think I’m not as good with makeup as I thought I was
