Basement Floor Leveling - Don't Do It This Way

Instead of looking at the laser you could have ran a string line across your room. The subfloor does not have to be level for flooring but flat. If it has a slope that is ok as long as it is flat.

We he make out with the wood floor? I had to level a floor in.an old century home that was out 4 inches. All I had to do was remove the wood floor, sister in new beams and put down new plywood floor. Sure that's easier than concrete.

We have a basement floor with similar issues. We were thinking of grinding down the really high points and self-leveling it, but like you we have some extreme low spots which will be too costly. We may have to use your method. It's nice to know someone else has gone before us and had good results.

It's a mixed bag. It was a lot of work, and ultimately not a perfect outcome. Definitely a better-than-before outcome though. The floor was just so out of level this was the best I could come up with without raising the entire basement floor at extraordinary expense. So after having used that room for half a year now, there are a couple spots with a little bounce. Not terrible, but noticeable. So I resorted to drilling small holes and injecting Big Stretch caulking to support a couple of the worst areas. This helped. If I had to do it again... I'm not certain. I would probably live with the small deficiencies that resulted from the way I did it rather than sink thousands into raising the entire floor and having to redo the bathroom floor which would have been submerged. Hope this info helps 😉

Well it took you longer than the guy who.does this regularly. But you trued up the floor , saved cash and finished. Job well done id say.
