@@BUI3BA I don't believe it would work in that case. With the 16" ones, the stabilizer is right in the middle, so it makes it easy to flip around. With deeper crossmembers if attaching to the rear, the upper part of the lat plull down machine will not be able to mount on the upper crossmember.

Hey, Brandon! Here’s a question for you - Do the benefits of the Rep Lat Pulldown (which are many, it’s the best if wanting to combine with a rack) outweigh the overall build and quality of the Rep rack and accessories when compared with Rogue’s racks and accessories? What’s your opinion?

Rep HR(Half-Rack)-5000 was a thing earlier last year...looks like it was discontinued but it has pull-up bars where you put the crossbar. I love mine, and appreciate the durability and function with minimum space. Plenty of space to workout but still park the truck and car. Can't attach the low/high pulley but I have a modified Titan Tall pulley that works even better. Plus I use the top of the rack for storage for farmers carries and axle bars. Something else is if you're into strongman or incorporating atlas stones into your workout, you can build a platform on the spotter arms and it's now height adjustable. Love the jammer arm mono-lift idea, might use that.

I think with this set up it's hard to incline unless you have the jammers. Reversing the RBS doesn't give you any more room front to back, it just opens up upright mounting points. Pull Up bar with this set up would also be tough other than what I show due to no space.

This is fantastic, and I think I might actually go with this design. I have a very small space to put it, and bolting down is not an option. I'd love a full cage, but I'd rather have the option of adding the iso arms later, and need to leave clearance for those. I've mostly looked at Rep's Omni and Apollo racks, as they're designed not to be bolted - BUT - their bases and uprights are different from the PR5000V2, and I'd be locking myself out of the fancy stuff like the Ares or Athena. If I wanted to add those later, I'd have to toss or sell the bases and uprights and replace with PR5000V2 ones. So I've started looking at the PR5000V2 itself. It's the bolting issue that's giving me pause (especially since Rep says it should be bolted), but it seems you have a very safe setup even without bolting. I would be buying just the basics to start with (rack, feet, stabilizer, weight horns) but I would add the lat pulldown and the arms as soon as money allows.

@@lonka2184 The rear stabilizer doesn't take up that much space. I believe the 27" refers to if you have the lat pull down extension. For me in this set up the stabilizer fits between the two uprights, so flipping it one way or the other doesn't take up any additional space.

@Basement Brandon 2 questions. 1) are you still using the lat bar that came with your pr5K? I've noticed you keep it in the lat hanger in your videos. 2) I have the pr4K and noticed that because of the clearance between the top pulley and the groove in the top support where the cable passes, any sort of movements that aren't totally vertical like a standing face pull would shred the cable against the groove. Have you experienced the same issue with your pr5K?

Amazing video.. I've come back to it a dozen times for reference. Quick question: Do you remember roughly the footprint this took up off the wall?
@BasementBrandon7 ай бұрын
So first of all I'd say if you're looking at this, REP now has better options that are based off this model and can get even more compact with some of their weight stack options (athena & ares). This one here is a bit deceiving b/c when you factor in the front feet and the space needed for the plate loaded pins in the back you're still prob looking at like 50-60"

For me (and powerlifting) I find little to no use for them. In fact they just tend to get in my way when doing normal work inside the rack so I've taken them off.

How did reversing the rear stabilizer for the pull down work? I have the pr5000 but don’t want to extend another 30something inches in my garage, do you notice any difference? How much space are you saving from it?
@BasementBrandon3 жыл бұрын
doesn't save any space for footprint, but allows you to use more of the front uprights for attachments.

I like how you mounted the lat pull down setup… i see with the 16” cross members and the top part of the lat pull down mounts to the rep cross member… do you think the same setup could be done using the 30” ones?
@BasementBrandon Жыл бұрын
So you'd have to mount the bottom brace (RBS) to the middle crossmembers in that case.
@Rocket4ce3 жыл бұрын
Those Jammers kinda defeat the space saving route. I get it, trying to minimize that footprint. Especially if it's just you alone working out.
@BasementBrandon3 жыл бұрын
When not in use they don’t take up any extra room and even when fully extended they don’t take up much more than the spotter arms or half rack feet. Def can do without them though!

If building a similar rack but without lat pulldown attachment but with multi-grip pull-up bar (will not be using it for kipping pull-ups), would the front foot extensions be necessary, or would bolting it down to a platform be sufficient?

Get a 4 post and bolt it to the ground (or a double half rack). You can then each work on opposite sides with spotter arms.

Hey Brandon, I'm waiting for an 8x12 shed to be shipped and was trying to decide on a rack. I've been looking at the RM-3 and RM-4 as well as the comparable Rep racks(PR-5000 but seems like it would be the Omni rack now). Do you have any suggests on which I should choose? (I previously though about the ML series vs the PR-4000 but felt I'd get more versatility out of the ones I mentioned above)
@BasementBrandon3 жыл бұрын
The RML or PR4000 will save money initially and over time and are built enough where they'll last a lifetime. Just a question if you want some of the more boujee attachments.
@woojinho14873 жыл бұрын
Brandon - what cross members did you use? 16 or 24". If you'e using 24" I think you can slip squeeze in the multi-grip pull up bar. Also what's the depth from back upright to the front foot support. BTW - I asked the folks at Rep and homeboys said it can't be done.
@BasementBrandon3 жыл бұрын
16" crossmembers here. You need to have the nameplate for lat pull down. You could prob mount the lat pull on the rear posts and move the name plate, thus maybe making room for the pull up bar (might have to go 24"). But all that would significantly expand the footprint with no added benefit over the one I show here IMO.

OK maybe you covered this in the video but did you reverse the cage to get the lat pulldown attachment pulled forward? Specifically, move the upper crossmenber on the rear posts moved to the front posts and reverse the lower crossmember/stabilizer on the rear post. Surprised this lines up correctly. I would assume you know this but n the pictures on the Rep website the rear stabilizer is reversed and the "Rep" labeled top crossmember is on the rear posts. With the stabilizer reversed from what you have, you probably loss a good foot and a half I would bet behind the rack but you open up more space inside the rack for the bench. One other thing I noticed is you didn't have the "weight attachements." The rack builder on the Rep website won't let you add weight horns unless you have the additional rear weight storage uprights. However, you can just go find them under the rack attachments section of the website and add them manually. Just glad to see that they seem functional this way.
@BasementBrandon Жыл бұрын
So for me I reversed it b/c otherwise the bolts it requires on the uprights limits how low you can mount certain attachments (like safeties in this example). Flipping the stabilizer doesn't change how much space the unit takes up as it sits right in the middle of the two posts regardless.
