Hi fellow dog lover!🐶 My dog Billie had so many behavior problems… she was jumping, peeing inappropriately, overly aggressive, pulling on the leash… she was just crazy…🤪 Then I found this one solution that stopped all the problems!🙌 The sad fact was…The training I first tried with my dog was a complete fai...lure.😔 I went through the average cookie-cutter training programs. These programs used outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. It turns out those programs had no qualifications and were developed by complete phonies.😱 So this is what I did to stop my dog’s behavior problems... In a few simple words… I discovered my dog’s hidden intelligence!🧠
Let me explain… In my years as a dog owner…this is the one big lesson I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved.👍 A more intelligent dog takes commands easier…and understands what you need from them. What I found out was… No matter how clever I thought my dog was. I could still unlock my dog’s hidden intelligence quickly and easily!😄 Don’t waste a second longer putting up with your dog's behavior problem! I’ll explain everything you need to know in the link!😁

Basenji - Must-Know Facts for the Owner
Basenji is among the oldest breeds of dogs in the world. It is one of the first dogs on the continent of Africa. Records indicate that in ancient Egypt it was a popular dog breed. Statues and tablets of stone will depict dogs that look like Basenji. They were an aspect of daily life that helped farmers, hunters, and royalties. Some sources suggest they have been even longer with humans. Forrest Bryant Johnson has a picture of the Basenji shown in his book Basenji, Dog From The Past in ancient cave drawings.
The Basenji didn't fall when ancient Egypt collapsed. They could be seen all across the Nile and Congo before explorers found them in the 17th century. In fact, the word' Basenji' is from a language in the Congo meaning village dog.
It remained popular for its incredible agility, eye-catching, great sense of smell and instinct of hunting among many African tribes. Europe and America were fascinated by the amazing race of dogs just as the pharaohs of ancient Egypt.
The Basenji can grow up to 17 inches and weigh up to 25 pounds. It's a small dog that's perfect for people who live in apartments. His coat is one of his most intimidating characteristics. They have a short and sleek cover that is usually white and has a red, black or all-three color combination. They don't often shed and you will not get to worry about your house concerning the hair. It is very easy to clean because the short coat does not become dirty. Perhaps you don't even have to bathe it that much. Basenjis are known for being clean. They also lick themselves, like cats, to remove the dirt from their fur.

I had my Benji the Basenji for over 15 yesrs. He was the love of my life. You have to “walk” them.......not “stand” outside with them on a leash while you’re on your cellphone. So if you’re a lazy type person who doesn’t like exercise they’re not for you. IMO they’re the cutest dogs in the world. Will definitely get another when I retire.

I've had Basenjis for over 25 years. They are not good in apartments. People need to realize that they have to be crate trained or you will get complaints from neighbors because they scream and howl when you are gone. They need more than 40 mins per day of exercise so a backyard is essential. It takes about 3 years for them to settle down and become less rambunctious. They do not play fetch. They also do not like to get wet. Trying to get them outside when it's raining is impossible. Basenjis howl when upset, the yodel is a positive way of them communicating. They yodel when they are happy. PRA and Fanconi are the genetic diseases that have to be tested. When they are affected, these diseases don't show up until the age of 7-10 cutting their lifespan in half.

My basenji loves to play fetch. Also, im a truck driver. He lives in the truck and is fine as long as I let him out 3-4 times a day. We also go on long walks at the end of each day. Maybe mine is just a weirdo 🤷‍♂️

i just adopted a rescue and the temp foster mom and my friends think its a smooth fox terrier mixed with a whippet but a breed scanner app told me it was 87% basenji mixed with a whippet. 4 and half months old. She does scream and howl when i am gone. love her though not sure if she is a fox terrier whippet mix or besenji would you be able to tell. wish you can post images on youtube comments or pm

I lost my precious Max (puppus maximus) a little over two years ago. He was my Rescue boy, and he adopted me just shy of his 3rd birthday. He was one the more rare Brindles, and the joy of my life for 13-1/2 years. Sure, they need to be crate trained, but that's something that's a good idea anyway, in general. He was my 4th Basenji, so you could say I've been a proud Basenji slave for most of my adult life. When he was roughly 7, he had calmed down quite a bit, so I started leaving him out of his crate, and only a couple of times did he get into any mischief, and I've been an apartment dweller most of my life, having been a govt employee, and just never could manage afford a house, but did own a condo for my last 7 ears before retirement, in Alexandria, Va. But I have always been active, and love dog parks in general, and hiking, so exercise for him was great. So he passed in my arms at 16-1/2 years old, and his urn sits atop my entertainment center, and I can hardly wait for the day when I reunite with him at the RAINBOW BRIDGE.

I have had both at the same time, they were so fun! A really head turning pair, I’d get compliments a lot. Would definitely do this combination again, although hopefully being able to properly socialize them. I got them when they were around 1 each and they had some issues that I think earlier intervention would have helped a bit in!

i have a mixed basenji, im not sure what he’s mixed with and he looks exactly like the basenji breed only his ears are down, he has blue eyes , and he has a long tail with a white tip. He is so hard to train and he’s very aggressive. i adopted him almost a year ago and it hasn’t been any easier. My mom wants to give him away but i love him so much he only listens to me and he follows me everywhere. I have a little brother who is 13 and my basenji, his name is simba, he gets very aggressive with him and bites him randomly. My basenji mix also barks non-stop and i’m pretty sure my mom will make me give him away soon.

@369megatron
@369megatron 3 жыл бұрын
That’s barbaric, a dog’s behaviour reflects that of the owners. Euthanising a dog because it’s uncomfortable around a teenage male is insane and unwarranted. I fear for any dog that is under tyrannical ownership.
@plsstop7242

@@369megatron None of my dogs have ever been aggressive, however, if my dog in any way would be a danger to the general public, then the only sane thing to do would be to put it down for everyone's safety. You cannot prioritize your dangerous and aggressive dog over peoples lives.

Thinking of getting a dog, as hypoallergenic as possible, I've heard the basenji is nightmarish: climbing fences, killing Guinea pigs, needs stay on leash, chews up house, is this true??
@veiligheidspeld
@veiligheidspeld 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. there are no real hypoallergic dogs and Basenjis only make good pets if you are experienced and can train them from very young. They have a very strong hunting instinct and are not very focused on humans. Got one of those mixed with a boxer now. First owner gave him to the shelter at 4 years old. Adopted at 6 new owners called me crying after 18 months because none of their attempts to make him walk on a leash without trying to break their arms worked. When he sees anything that moves he will try to go whatever is on the other side of the leash. Do your homework before you get a dog and don't go by the looks.
@mr.sushi2221
@mr.sushi2221 3 жыл бұрын
Not true at all! Every dog is different. While they are capable of everything mentioned with good training you won’t have a problem. My basenji was my first dog and he has’t had any of those issues. He’s even trained to be left alone in my apartment when I’m gone and he won’t tear it up.

@harleyjordan7959

They will climb, they will chew, and they will eat your guinea pig. Chewing can be mitigated with toys and exercise, and they'll grow out of it (usually). Climbing, well just never leave them unattended, or get a fence that can't be climbed. As for rodents? One of their ancestral jobs was rat killer. They'll learn to get along with a household cat - be best friends even. Anything smaller is prey. Basenji's are amazing. I love them. But they're not for everyone. If you want a lap dog, or a lab, this isn't your breed. If you want a dog that will challenge you mentally, make you laugh at their antics, and keep you on your toes? Then it might work out.

Hypoallergenic. Means that a dog is supposed to be compatible with people allergic to dogs. Edit: I forgot to mention that this is a misconception and there aren't dogs that are truly hypoallergenic. However, people with allergies might react differently to different dog breeds.

This is going to sound crazy, but... Basenji's are NOT a dog. They're not a wolf, a dingo, a coyote, jackal or a wild dog either. All dogs can trace their lineage back to the grey wolf... Basenji's cannot because they are not related to grey wolves whatsoever. Basenji's have two seperate ancestors: an ancient wolf and an ancient jackal. The ancient Ethiopian Wolf -endemic to Ethiopia and now extinct (current day Ethiopian wolves are bred with grey wolves). As for the other ½ of the basenji's ancient bloodline: it's thought to be a long extinct variety of jackal, again, endemic to Africa given the age of the breed of the basenji, which is remarkably ancient -the most ancient, purest "dog" breed in fact... But I'm not calling them dogs. They're not. They're basenji's. They're different. There's nothing quite like them.

Because it’s the way we were trained growing up. Almost everything that is bought in stores in the US that has a weight designation is listed in pounds AND kg or grams. But if I really want to know how heavy something is, which ISN’T listed in pounds, I have to divide kg by 2.2 to put the weight into a perspective I can easily relate to.
