Wow, something from Baseus that broke, what a surprise (at least for me). Luckly there are people like you that do thorough testing on these devices and report on issues. It honestly would've been a lot better if they supplied USB C to barrel adapter. The overheating on the barrel adapter is the worst blunder in this device, that port should work 24x7 at max like a stock adapter would. Great review as always, it's fair and the tradeoffs are much worse than the upsides. Current leakage might make a touch screen device inoperable so it's the bare minimum!

That's why laptops come with high quality PSU that runs cooler, due to surface area. I'd never use one of these for a laptop. Give me a purpose-built PSU, that was engineered for the product.

I keep a usb fan on my desk and point it at charging bricks, because soooo many of them get HOT. and a little air flow, goes a LONG way. In no way am I saying each device should REQUIRE that, but less heat, means things last longer. Definitely should have included a built in fan on this charger.

I'm now considering into strapping a heatsink to the large brick along with the USB fan. When it's too warm to touch makes me wonder how hot it's inside.

Hello! I've been following your channel for over two years and only buy the adapters you recommend. Your incredibly detailed reviews are invaluable, without them, we’d be stuck relying on misleading marketing from manufacturers, which often leads to trouble. This is a fair review. I think you were a bit on the nice side considering it didn’t let you complete the tests and failed. With that being said things happen. This could be a manufacturing/QC issue. I guess the only way to know is for more people to buy them and share their experiences with them. Great video!

I purchased two Baseus 240W GaN chargers with the DC out port, one for the office and one for home to keep my desk tops as clutter free as possible. I've experienced reliable stable charging for near on a year now and never had a problem with thermals using DC or USB charging on my devices that vary by manufacturer and specifications from an OC I7 6820HK CPU paired with 2xGTX970m SLI 12Gb, a AMD Ryzen 7 5800H paired with an RTX3070, AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX paired with Nvidia RTX4070. I have supplemented the supplied DC 5.5*2.5 barrel tip / Lenovo flat square connectors with MSI proprietary square converter connector, Asus/HP/Dell 7.4*5.0 to 5.5*2.5, and 6.0*3.7 x 5.5*2.5 barrel connectors etc. The display is bright and legible. I am very happy with my purchase, it's the best all-rounder on the market and a 100% better than those unsightly oversized overweight 240W power bricks it replaces.

I love the concept. It would be great to have just one adapter for both my laptop and USB devices. But it should never re-negotiate. BTW, keep that square laptop plug! If it is the 230W version (which has a 4.6K ohm resistor attached to the signal pin in the center) it is an extremely rare find. I really wish these companies would consider E-Paper displays on their batteries and adapters.

Had two power banks from BaseUS (same model) and both of them died. Some of their chargers work flawlessly though. Mixed experience. Recently I've searched for a 200-300W PD charger and I was sceptical when I've read some stories. With my own mixed experience I've decided to go with some other brand. I don't get what's the thinking behind releasing such products. Also why they are so afraid to put a fan in such chargers? Products presentation is nice but we could also have a better design for of the internals.

I was looking at your older videos for the power banks, and I was trying to get a ZMI power bank 210 watt 25,000 mah that you recommended in the power banks guide, but I am having trouble buying one in Canada. The US Amazon listing in the video description does not offer shipping to Canada. Are there any other power banks you'd recommend as strongly as the ZMI that are available in Canada? Or maybe there is some convoluted roundabout way of getting a ZMI power bank to Canada? Also, awesome video. I love your attention to detail and how much work goes into these reviews. I've checked out a good handful of your reviews and recommendations. I'm looking for travel charger for phones, tablets etc for international travel by airplane. My eye fell on the Anker 543 and as someone in the comments pointed out that the ergonomics of this device are great for this purpose. It is compact, light it has a detachable cable (I hate those power sockets at airports that can handle a small charger on a travel adapter. In your review you where not very enthusiastic about this charger so I was wondering if there are some better alternatives that provide a similar package (detachable cable, small, light). I couldn't find any myself. Thanks in advance!

not really related to the video but: have you looked at any "smart batteries", im wondering why audio pros swear by them. usually in tandem with multiple in/out power distribution systems, maybe it's just the voltages and secure connections but seems like a huge price gap for a 1 out 98-99wh battery compared to a iniu or something like that. also wondering how efficient these power distros like audioroot or diety SPD-1

Hi beginner question with regards to the leaky-tingling phenomenon - is USB considered DC? Do recall experiencing it with devices charging via USB. Also can this phenomenon happen/worsen over time? Perhaps as the internal parts degrade? (i.e. brand new it doesn’t occur but starts to happen over time?) Lastly what is the worse that can happen with this? Could it eventually zap you? Much like a stinging static shock from touching metal? Thank you!

Whenever you do a power bank comparison again, can you find out what has 20,000 mah, 45w charging so it can charge a steam deck or laptop slowly, and is a reasonable size, weight, and price? The ZMI QB826G is expensive, evatronic is out of stock on the 20k mah models, and Anker is pretty expensive as well. It looks like the Anker 737 is one of the main options.

I really appreciate your reviews, and therefore I'd like to give two pieces of feedback: 1. I found your comment about the display reading a bit unspecific. You made it sound like it totally has zero value; "random number generator". Was it really THAT bad? How did you test it? Show some specific examples. I hope this isn't under influence of feedback that you aren't "harsh enough". Just be objective and informative, don't get drawn into subjective "name-calling". 2. I also find it strange to just skip over Bluetooth. If you want to review products that have that feature, I think you should look at that too. I don't even know what that feature brings to the table with a device like this and if it's something I'd like, but this video did zero to learn more about it.

Thank you, very valid. Excuses: For 1) yes the display showed 0 and 150 while delivering 100 watts, my wording was sort of trying to be funny, which didn't land, and yes, show it don't tell it. Hopefully, something that can be updated with firmware which leads into number 2. For 2) I need to pickup a burner device to install all these random apps on to test them. I see security concerns with installing these apps. Yes, I let the review down by skipping the BT feature. I will get a cheap tablet to be able to show the app at a minimum.

Too bad it doesn't work well. With that bluetooth feature, I hope they can upgrade it to work with an app that allows limiting the protocols and power to individual ports. I have some devices that can charge at high wattage but get a bit warmer than I'd like. My laptop can do 65w but I use a 35w ugreen with it because it keeps the laptop much, much cooler. But, this requires having a bunch of adapters at different power levels. One multiport adapter that I could limit max power output for certain devices and set the power splits would be awesome.
@modecir
@modecir 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, it'd be very useful to be able to limit the power. For now I can only do that sometimes by using the C4 port on my UGREEN 300W because that's always limited to 45W, so not many options or very convenient. The way you're doing it also has the downside of overheating and shortening the lifespan of the charger that you'll be running at full load all the time. We'll see if the new Anker 250W is the answer.

haha, yeah, it is certainly confusing, and not sure I can really help all the way. UGREEN cables are not a bad choice. The power adapter, the 160W Ugreen will probably be okay if only connected to the dock, don't load it more than 100 watts though as it may run into issues with overheating, but you should be able to charge anything through the dock as that will stop at 100 watts of draw from the power adapter.

The maximum is 11V in this case. The device asks for whatever voltage it needs though which as mentioned can be anything from 3.3V up to the maximum 21V in the USB specification, but for this adapter it tops out at 11V.

its prob a unlucky product flaw u got. or u indeed pushed it too far in that test, though at least it didnt catch fire (and it shouldnt crap itself but happens even with the best ones). baseus - its build with minimal specs with no headroom to save costs. my 65w charger still works i bought from AE for less than $15, though im now using also Amegat chargers (+ as backup & heard they are Aukey oem chargers). the 67w also gets hot (bit hotter than the baseus but its also smaller & feels somehow heavier, + more premium) but the bigger 140w gets like 15°c over room temp in my use case, but also only pullled 80-110w. i usually like baseus products, my older 22w powerbank still works, as an emergency charger in case i need to charge while on the trip. their bowie in-ear headphones feel also like good quality bit their chargers im a bit sceptical + i feel they want to be more premium and increased their prices while still being a budget brand quality wise.

In spring 2026, here in the EU, usb-c charging becomes mandatory for powering laptops, so honestly i feel like proprietary plug designs are obsolete. 👋👋☠️👎 That said... Shame on baseus for actually breaking during the test. I would ask for a replacement and re-run the tests to see if it fails again. (Just my 50cts...)

Interesting topic. For comparison, the Anker 240W is even smaller (check around the 7:00 mark) but has been designed and engineered to sustain up to a full load. The Anker is also a little heavier, even without the stand that may help it dissipate heat (as mentioned in the video). I also think the Anker has more premium components and it should have a heatsink, thermal pads, etc. One more thing is the shape of the unit. The Anker looks like it has a bigger surface area even though it's smaller than this Baseus, which would translate to better heat dissipation. Apple's 140W and Dell's 130W laptop power adapters are quite flat (similar to the Anker) to maximize the surface area and have been designed to sustain a full load as well.

It can give 230W on the DC port. For a non-continuous load like a large desktop replacement laptop, it may work just fine as long as the average power is 120 watts or so. But for sustained full load it will likely shutdown.

I don't understand the confusing marketing claims. They tout this as being able to power hungry laptops, but it's designed never to leave the desk. If your power supply isn't designed to be portable or leave the desk, why not just use the original laptop vendor's power supply? The other confusing trend, one which Baseus in particular seems to be leading, is the power cable that *cannot* be removed from the main body of the charger. Incredibly poor design that drastically limits its use cases, such as people who travel with their laptops.
@modecir

Good points. I think they may be pitching it as the one nice-looking charger that can replace all the chargers on your desktop, including your laptop's, for less clutter. That way you can also have the convenience of leaving the power supply that came with your laptop in the laptop bag, which would be a nice perk. Just guessing since manufacturers have been touting this ever since the first ≥100W multiport desktop chargers hit the market. Kind of a moot point, though, since this Baseus probably can't replace your laptop's power adapter and power other devices at the same time lol

Yeah, that's the struggle I've been seeing, from this and many other high wattage adapters on the market. They can't sustain. But also, yes, use the OEM brick. For portable get a smaller adapter has been my approach.
