This show is really really well polished now. To the whole team, well done, fantastic first episode

Broke: BattleBots decreasing the size of the BattleBox by adding a stupid fucking self. Woke: BashBots increasing the size of the BashBox to give bots more room to fight.

increasing the size of the arena was a huge pain in my arse definitely worth it in the end though; makes the old arena look tiny in comparison

As one of the people who helped decide effectiveness as a criteria to supercede damage, i'd explain it thus, we felt that the way some tournaments use the damage criteria in judges decision feels a bit limiting to machines that aren't spinners. We wanted to pick a criteria that was easy to explain and worked for every robot, so effectiveness replaced damage, easy, hah

Absolutely love the show. Somehow the production value got even better this year! My only criticism is the same problem I have with the real life Battlebots, why are you having champions facing bots who aren't in the same league as them? Both Mars and Atlas fought bots in their first fight who were in the same losers rumble last season and who didn't stand a chance. Wasn't the point of the fight night format that you get excellent fights all the time? Especially when it's a video game where spare parts aren't a problem? I only criticise because I love the show so much and because I want better fights all the time. This episode was fantastic. Also Rampage does what Hydra can't, they actually hit the ceiling with another robot!

To be fair Erod did a really good job outwedging Mars.
@croga95812 жыл бұрын
it's not mentioned in the episode but the tournament actually follows a "swiss" style tournament where you can only fight someone of the same record as your own, so that means the main events will create themselves past round 1 as only 1-0s will fight, then 2-0s and 3-0s. Round 1 was kept randomised to keep it fair for everyone - obviously putting mars and polis or whatever as the episode 1 main event would be good tv but it wouldn't sit right with me putting so many good robots on the back foot. With only 16 spots available, robots with more than 1 loss are close to guaranteed to not be in the bracket, so it would be like in seasons past putting 2 top tier robots against each other in the qualifying round. Basically tldr just a matter of fairness for round 1 as the main events will create themselves as the season progresses
@Jonnyonthespot1232 жыл бұрын
@@croga9581 That's absolutely fantastic and should totally be in the show. So glad you guys are doing a proper tournament and now I know what you're doing I can retract my criticism. You are officially now the best robot combat show!

@@Jonnyonthespot123 there are a lot of little technicalities to the format that can all just easily be summed up as "robots get up to 4 fights" to keep things simple for the viewers

@@nathanielhayden5919 In the first fight, I hadn't fallen in the pit yet so they decided based on the fact that Mav struggled to do alot against me for most of the fight so I won it. In the last fight I was one of the judges, and we decided that, overall, HUGE hadn't managed to do enough against Rampage where Rampage had stayed very aggressive through the fight, so we decided that it had won overall And we decided against using Damage as a criteria as it was sort of unhelpful to hammer, crushers, control robots, it just made them less effective by default. We'd decided on Effectiveness instead of damage to give non damaging robots more a chance
