If there was a Christine 2, and it came back as an EV, would the audience really believe it was demon possessed as it burned down everything, or would they just think it's a regular EV? That is the question.

No, actually Tesla price cuts on NEW cars have hurt Hertz ability to sell high mile units without a huge depreciation so it affected there finacials to much. They bought to many when prices were much higher a year ago. Theyre scaling back the "premium" inventory to stabilize their financials in a high interest rate slowing economy.

First of all No… that’s not how EV’s work. The warranty alone is 8 years and between 100-150,000 miles depending on model… so that is not at all why they are dumping them. They are dumping them because they always dump cars around the 50-60,000 mile mark. It’s just what they do. They are dumping them because Elon lowered the price of new ones and that hurt their value of the cars they had in the fleet…. They are dumping them because they are self insured and body repairs are $$$$ on Tesla…. It has zero to do with them Being EV’s

Sometimes the final assembly is as simple as apply stickers, maybe attach something with a few crews. And boom, it was made in the USA. Using the imported handle, lid, engine, wheels, cables, screws, nuts and so on. We didn’t “make” anything in the term “made in USA”..... the honest statement would be, made in ____ and final assembly in USA.

Just did a Holley sniper installation, and previously a vintage air system. You can count the wiring needed for FI, air-conditioning, etc on your fingers. Something on the side was adding a sequential turn signal kit. It uses standard off the shelf bulbs (that you can also get in LED), and the harness wires to the standard flasher relay. Pop-up headlights are currently (working) vacuum but can also be converted to electric. Thats a working car with FI and amenities and fancy lights some redneck could swing together in a week (less if you have experience). I think if you summed up the full package of those parts in the realm of 3-4k *retail*. obviously a manf can do that much cheaper. but no, apparently you need a module from everything from heated seats to just a singular, non serviceable, light assembly and everything needs to communicate to eachother over CAN, and the associated computers, and lights needs to be a pcb array with built in expensive modules/sensors....and and and and..

@@tabbott429 Yeah that's why Hertz dumped 20,000 of them. They also reneged on their 100,000 Tesla purchase only getting halfway there before the truth came to light. "According to Johann Rawlinson, Hertz VP of Investor Relations, "collision and damage repairs on an EV can often run about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle." The difference is significant enough that it weighed significantly on Q3 earnings. In fact, according to Stephen Scherr, Hertz's CEO, "there's quite a bit of the cost element that relates to the Teslas as opposed to others." Scherr pointed to GM's EVs, which benefit from a larger parts and repair network nationally and lower parts and labor costs for repairs. Note that a full 80 percent of Hertz's EV fleet is Tesla models."

As a person who won't buy any car built after 1979, there's nothing particularly offensive about EVs in the modern era. *All* modern cars are overcomplicated computerized garbage. EVs are just another form of that. Gas cars also have over-the-air updates and self-driving and all that nonsense. EVs have applications where they make sense (someone who can charge at home and uses their car for a daily commute to and from work), and applications where they don't make sense (rentals and Uber drivers who clog up charging stations because they don't know how to precondition their car battery during winter storms). Once battery technology improves, EVs will probably be pretty cool. For now, they're just a thing that exists. And that's fine. Buy one if it makes sense for you, or don't if it doesn't. What makes sense for me personally is old non-computerized cars. They're reliable, easy to maintain, more comfortable, and more stylish. Their means of propulsion are more or less irrelevant to me. As an aside, that toolbox sticker is pretty common on things these days It's probably a legal requirement to have the "global materials" bit on there since "made in the USA" could be perceived as misleading when your supply chain has you sourcing materials from overseas. The era of quality American-made products is gone. With a few exceptions of small businesses and independent shops, things produced in America in the modern era are just as cheap and junky as stuff from overseas. It's a sad time to buy pretty much anything.

I walked into the avionics shop, communications/navigation and began to take down the "emergency lighting" that was strung out throughout the shop, beige plastic housings, two lights, lithium ion batteries inside, although we didn't know that was what they were at the time. Not much was said to me about them, the new guy, but they were being removed because they had a propensity for lighting themselves on fire with no warning. I was cleaning out my shop a couple years ago, and ran across the remnants of one I'd saved when I didn't know what they were. It's kinda like DeJa'Vu all over again.

They complain about gas guzzling trucks & SUVs .Then turn right around and build big electricity guzzling SUV & trucks. Which don't make any sense....A small 4 cyl turbo diesel/electric hybrid truck makes alot more sense than an electric only truck that needs 11,000w to charge & only has a tow range of 15 miles on a cold day 🤪 Although I do like the idea of a small simple EV like a honda crx hatchback type EV that is sporty & has a little pep/fun to drive.... But doesn't use a ton of electricity and can slow charge off a simple 120V 🔌 plug-in or faster on a regular 240V existing outlet. So you don't need to spend extra $$$ on a special charger. Also with a small energy efficient EV you could easily & fairly quickly charge off a generator. If the power went out. A small efficient aerodynamic simple sporty little hatchback EV would need far less maintenance. If I had the money I'd very much rather build my own EV conversion. For cheaper than a new EV. You could build it so it's built to last & easy to work on. Mine would have manual crank windows for example. Instead of electric that break every 5 yrs.

Ford’s CEO announced they are ending all EV production, joining Toyota, VW, GM and Honda that are announcing who have started the same move away from EV production. He cited reliability, safety and lack of consumer interest. He said he had to do it to save Ford. They are loosing over $30,000 each for their EVs.

Dealing with electrical issues on my old pickup right now. Voltage regulator shit the bed on the way home from work Friday night. A few other components got damaged. The system is simple, parts are plentiful, cheap, and non-proprietary.

😂 You’re ahhh, kind if being that guy UT. What I do worry about is our local manufacturing here in East Tennessee. Denso MFG is our largest employer and they’ve shifted heavily into EV supplies and moved their ICE parts lines to Mexico. Living though the economic disaster that was Pittsburgh in the 1980s makes me worry about things here.

What's really unfortunate for us Canadians, is that our Federal government, which has much more power than the Federal government in the USA is mandating that all vehicles sold in Canada after 2035(?) MUST be "zero emission". For many of us in remote areas this is just not doable, not without substantial improvements in EV range and charging infrastructure. I shudder to think of the BILLIONS of dollars that our Federal politicians are going to waste going down this rabbit hole ... Not selling my truck with the thousand km (620 mile) highway range any time soon!
