They are dumping them because they always dump cars around the 50-60,000 mile mark. It’s just what they do. They are dumping them because Elon lowered the price of new ones and that hurt their value of the cars they had in the fleet…. They are dumping them because they are self insured and body repairs are $$$$ on Tesla…. It has zero to do with them Being EV’s

Just did a Holley sniper installation, and previously a vintage air system. You can count the wiring needed for FI, air-conditioning, etc on your fingers. Something on the side was adding a sequential turn signal kit. It uses standard off the shelf bulbs (that you can also get in LED), and the harness wires to the standard flasher relay. Pop-up headlights are currently (working) vacuum but can also be converted to electric. Thats a working car with FI and amenities and fancy lights some redneck could swing together in a week (less if you have experience). I think if you summed up the full package of those parts in the realm of 3-4k *retail*. obviously a manf can do that much cheaper. but no, apparently you need a module from everything from heated seats to just a singular, non serviceable, light assembly and everything needs to communicate to eachother over CAN, and the associated computers, and lights needs to be a pcb array with built in expensive modules/sensors....and and and and..

In fact, according to Stephen Scherr, Hertz's CEO, "there's quite a bit of the cost element that relates to the Teslas as opposed to others." As a person who won't buy any car built after 1979, there's nothing particularly offensive about EVs in the modern era. *All* modern cars are overcomplicated computerized garbage. EVs are just another form of that. Gas cars also have over-the-air updates and self-driving and all that nonsense. EVs have applications where they make sense (someone who can charge at home and uses their car for a daily commute to and from work), and applications where they don't make sense (rentals and Uber drivers who clog up charging stations because they don't know how to precondition their car battery during winter storms). Once battery technology improves, EVs will probably be pretty cool. For now, they're just a thing that exists. And that's fine. Buy one if it makes sense for you, or don't if it doesn't. What makes sense for me personally is old non-computerized cars. They're reliable, easy to maintain, more comfortable, and more stylish. Their means of propulsion are more or less irrelevant to me. As an aside, that toolbox sticker is pretty common on things these days It's probably a legal requirement to have the "global materials" bit on there since "made in the USA" could be perceived as misleading when your supply chain has you sourcing materials from overseas. The era of quality American-made products is gone. With a few exceptions of small businesses and independent shops, things produced in America in the modern era are just as cheap and junky as stuff from overseas. It's a sad time to buy pretty much anything.

They complain about gas guzzling trucks & SUVs .Then turn right around and build big electricity guzzling SUV & trucks. Which don't make any sense....A small 4 cyl turbo diesel/electric hybrid truck makes alot more sense than an electric only truck that needs 11,000w to charge & only has a tow range of 15 miles on a cold day 🤪 Although I do like the idea of a small simple EV like a honda crx hatchback type EV that is sporty & has a little pep/fun to drive.... But doesn't use a ton of electricity and can slow charge off a simple 120V 🔌 plug-in or faster on a regular 240V existing outlet. So you don't need to spend extra $$$ on a special charger. Also with a small energy efficient EV you could easily & fairly quickly charge off a generator. If the power went out. A small efficient aerodynamic simple sporty little hatchback EV would need far less maintenance. If I had the money I'd very much rather build my own EV conversion. For cheaper than a new EV. You could build it so it's built to last & easy to work on. Mine would have manual crank windows for example. Instead of electric that break every 5 yrs.

More heat and CO2 means better agriculture. I have gone full carnivore for health reasons and I wish they'ed plow in all corn and soy and graze bison.

Combining all your "not being that guy " episodes into 1 so you can move forward (or back ) to more motor related stuff . Brilliant !!!!!!!

What's really unfortunate for us Canadians, is that our Federal government, which has much more power than the Federal government in the USA is mandating that all vehicles sold in Canada after 2035(?) MUST be "zero emission". For many of us in remote areas this is just not doable, not without substantial improvements in EV range and charging infrastructure. I shudder to think of the BILLIONS of dollars that our Federal politicians are going to waste going down this rabbit hole ... Not selling my truck with the thousand km (620 mile) highway range any time soon!

Face it Tony...you're 'that guy.' But that's why we love you.

Recently we had a cold snap here(that's -35 for us) and because of the high electrical use during that time, people were asked NOT to charge their electric cars. I laughed hard. I could still buy gas. That tells you how important EVs are around here. LOL.

Made in USA with Chinese parts is allover now On everything EVs are allover the place now on the road. Why is OIL and GAS still so expensive?

A few points on this video: 1) NEVER pay to be a beta tester for any new technology, 2) LONG LIVE THE V8!, 3) Yes that T-shirt is extremely toxic!
@jimbo57286 ай бұрын
I think they (legally?) have to say "with global materials" because the implication of "made in the usa" is local sourced.

What about External Combustion? Think about a steam engine, or better yet: a Stirling engine?
@soupflood6 ай бұрын
An EV's motor burning up violently could technically be Internal Combustion. Externally Combusting too though.

I’m not opposed to EV‘s but I don’t have the money to buy one and I don’t have a place to charge it since I live in an apartment plus I have a bunch of spare parts for my internal combustion cars. Maybe someday when I’m an old man I’ll be forced to buy one, just not right now.

As a long time viewer, I much appreciate a switch back to the original ways of your channel. The only reason I've watched any of the EV videos is simply because I like your channel and understand what it takes for you to keep afloat.

I went to buy a new truck and the salesmen kept talking about all the technology it has. I told him all I want and care about is 4wd, power windows, and ac. All the other stuff is a waste to me. New automobiles are way too complicated.
