It is awesome that you got a restoration sponsor. I want to thank that company from my heart. ❤️

Love how the Scrapyard 48 just has (or had) "Rust" instead of a Ruston nameplate. And of course you got your sponsor to make you a lightsaber.

I like it too. It's like "What's Broken Now?" except they're mostly not broken and even the totally knackered one is getting de-knackered.

I think itll be a good way to get more progress updates, rather than having to wait who knows how lomg until one loco had had enough work done to make a full vid, incremental steps on multiple locos could help maintain a more consistent update schedule to make the algo happy

I like the new intro, and how it highlights each loco. Hopefully we will see all three in service together in the future. Ps. If you’re interested in name suggestions for 303, may I suggest Defiance, given how defiant some of the parts are and the team not giving up on its restoration? Looking forward to the next episode.

Slowly, Slowly, and it gets done eventually. I would love to get my hands dirty on all three locos, alas distance excludes that; at least I've seen all three of them now and appreciate the work that's been done so far; a lot don't! I know how hard it is from work I did on vintage Trams and Buses in Birkenhead. Keep up the good work, and keep up the videos!

That engine needs a bath in solvent and then a long soak in oil lol Also it's not violence, it's using a 'Linear impact driver for percussive maintenance' Nice video as always.

That Hunslet at The Colne Valley has a great exhaust bark when it throttles up. The Ruston's tend to have a quieter smoother sound.

Put some Evaprorust in there, not diesel, and take a week off and let it work. :)
@BrooksMoses2 ай бұрын
The problem with that is that where the surface of the Evaporust touches the steel, you get a reaction where the oxygen from the air rusts the steel and the Evaporust dissolves the newly-created rust, and it will eat a groove into the metal. Not what you want in a cylinder wall. (That's why when you're using it, you want to make sure everything you're de-rusting is fully submerged.)
@BuggleskellyStationАй бұрын
Daft question probably, but is locomotive diesel the same as red diesel used on farms etc? ie regular vehicle diesel dyed red? Or is it something completely different?

Seized valves, that will require removal of the cylinder heads, which as far as I'm predicting still heralds a _full engine teardown,_ especially given the loco's age and condition... ...and with at least one failed head gasket and how that piston looked... ...probably need a full gearbox transmission removal and teardown too... ...at least the journals were good!
