i understand where alia is coming from, but she often seems to come across very condescending. i also got that “better than you” vibe in the episode where you guys spoke about being friends with people who have different interests (primarily friends who like to go clubbing). i truly don’t understand why. no one is better than any other person just because they have different tastes, views, interests etc. apart from that, i absolutely love this podcast and the refreshing content you guys produce! xx

hi Alia, i think there's is nothing wrong with being basic. I think having a "basic outfit" means being comfortable and it's not necessarily for "fashion" - not every outfit has to have intent or meaning behind it, it can just be that it fits well and the person is super comfortable. And yes. there is so much style in being basic - It's effortless and chic! And there is really nothing wrong with following basic trends/music/artists etc because ultimately, it's your personal taste, if anyone's trying to judge you for that then that says alot about their character. Trying to be "different" and being pretentious about everything and judging others .... now THAT'S basic. (also, just something i noticed throughout episodes, Alia comes of as not a girl's girl, the way she speaks about them. It's very unlikeable.) Not hating on alia or anything, but her instagram/outfits/content is pretty generic..... so does that make you basic then?

I just think Alia tries to be really really really different but she’s soo basic and the same as all the influencers out there😅 I wish she would just give in and not try to be so different especially in these podcast episodes because every time there’s comments telling her how wrong she is

I think it’s perfectly okay not liking Taylor Swift, like it’s not your taste and that’s okay, but thinking that you are “special” and “different” for hating/not liking her…. lol nope you’re not special

Y’all always make me laugh. Alia is just in her hating phase (which we all do sometimes 😂) and Yoni is doing a good job of being patient with her and calling her out. ✨Heat and perspective✨

I think basic (in terms of outfit) isn't bad at all and it's also a part of the process because it's SO hard to find "your" own style and even when I watch old videos of Alia, her style was really really basic and today she probably don't like her old oufit but it has been a part of her "fashion journey". idk if it makes sense but I think everyone can dress and like whatever they want whether it's popular and trendy or not. Also it's okay to "grow up" and to have more "adult" outfit but it's not a reason to hate more "teenager" outfit. There is so much things to say about this episode😄 but it was fun to watch. And I understand the comments about Alia being king of "judgey"(idk if it's a word lol) and condescending but I really think she doesn't meant it like that. She just wanted to express her opinion but maybe next time it would be better to say "i don't like this or that" and not "it's trash" but at the end it's only about HEAT & PERSPECTIVE lol

Alia to judgey on something so superficial. I’ve watched your older videos and you dress like every other influencer. Cute but unoriginal. The only videos that you’ve elevated your style while still being basic is when you moved to NY. I did notice the more recent purchases seem to be good quality though. Effortless style to me is the best not too much fuss but still feeling comfortable and confident.

ohhhh the taylor swift take ain’t it guys🥴music is subjective and sure, you don’t have to like it, but saying something is „trash” is waaaaaaay out. it comes off as super condescending and in a „looking down at swifties” way. sure, it’s down to your opinions but it’s also about respecting other people tastes - again, saying something is „trash” is not respectful at all. adore you alia, been watching you since the first video on yt but you’re really giving pick me girl vibes here or at least not a girls’ girl for sure (tough love, i’m sorry, this is no hate)
@giorgiadimanuele38713 ай бұрын
Alia.. you’re one of the girls who is following the social media’s flock too! You as other million of people are wearing the same outfits. Birkenstock, samba adidas etc. Doesn’t this make you part of the same group you’re saying of not being original? Try to be a little less hypocritical, especially about other girls. You talked all the time about others girls outfit, nothing about boys’s outfits has been mentioned. Just sharing an opinion.

I wear basic things and they might look "basic basic" to a lot of other people but I always have my own touch on them in some way, weather it be the accessories or just the shape/cut of the piece. I agree with Yoni, a lot of people copy and paste things just because they are popular, not because they actually like them. A good recent example is the animal print trend. I know people from both irl and social media who literally hated it but once the influencers started dropping fits in them they ran to the store to buy it for themselves. Now dont get me wrong, opinions can change over time, and you can get inspiration from others, but its always so obvious when you are copying something versus finding a way to fit it into your style. Being basic is okay but not having your own opinions isnt cool at all

In my case I always “fought” against the idea of looking basic, but the older I get the more I realize that it's a matter of perspective. Sometimes less is more, sometimes the other way around. It depends on how you see it and interpret it. So I understand where Alia is coming at it from because I've often thought about it. And as far as music, I had a stage where I didn't really like Taylor until I turned it around and found some amazing music. But I do feel like you that there are artists that I will never bond with like Drake for example. Thank you for opening this kind of debate and thank you for such an amazing podcast 💚

I think the concept we need to remember girls is... less is more So sometimes a basic simple outfit may be more appealing than a girl with mismatched high end clothing.. Again some guys like a girl who is more simple and I've noticed they are more attracted to a girl who dresses that way?

This might be my favorite intro! I love the energy and chemistry between Yonie and Alia. However, this was pretty hard to listen to; Alia did sound a little judgmental and hypocritical. I understand where she is coming from, however I do feel like she could’ve worded her opinions/judgments a little differently. BUT I guess she just wants to be herself and not worry about what other people have to say. With a podcast and being an influencer, I do think you need to be a little more careful? But what do I know? Anyways, I genuinely love this podcast and both Alia and Yonie. I love how Yonie has really come out of his shell and is very opinionated. I have the utmost respect for him.

“I’m allowed to have an opinion” is just a judgmental persons way of hating everything and judging everyone. 😂😂 hard to listen through this one, honestly.

I think as long the intent behind your opinion doesn't have any ego behind it or your don't think your better than everyone else for not being "basic".. like "oh I don't like taylor swift or I don't follow trends so I'm better than you" I think you're opinion is okay LOL hope this made sense

jesus christ 😂 to be saying that taylor swift is trash just because it’s not your type of music is another level of hating, and I am FAAAAAR from a taylor swift fan. why does alia think listening to some small, quirky spotify artists make her special and different 😅 guys you’re not basic if you listen to taylor swift, that’s just your type of music and be proud of it😘

I don't know if it's just me, but I agree with everything Alia said. Can't say I hate people wearing a basic outfit, but I would be very confused if I saw a group of friends wearing exactly the same style of clothes. Like don't you wanna show how special you are?

Just wanted to say, that i get what Alia is saying and it's definetly sounding judgemental in a way. But it's her opinion and that's like one of the reasons you watch the Podcast, because you want to hear what they are thinking about sth … so i don't think it's a problem. Besides, I also think that Taylor's latest album is not her best one, I do though enjoy her earlier stuff a lot more…maybe give her a second chance and listen to speak now and 1989, I think that's more your vibe. Be kind and have a nice day!❤

I don’t think basic is bad. I think it’s timeless and great for people that don’t want to think too hard about an outfit (aka me lol). Also I’m not a Taylor Swift fan. 🫠
