I was thinking of getting rid of my cusinart ice cream maker but just can’t. I still think you need a large cutting board that would just sit out on the counter that is stable! LOVE your list. I have 3 items that I would consider.... I use a rotary drum grater for my cheese. The crank handle makes it easier for me to make quick work of block cheese and cleanup is VERY simple. I did learn my lesson to watch the reviews on this one. Look for one that is proven. Another item is a swingline, wall-mounted can opener (Lehman's). It makes SURE that the tool never walks away and it's a lot easier for me to turn the crank than to work with the hand-held twist handle types. The other item that I use a LOT for chopping veggies is a cast iron and stainless steel commercial grade fry cutter. It makes quick work of raw root vegetables, apples, onions and much more. I got this last one after seeing two plastic choppers fail (the ones that the lid pushes down on the food). I use it enough to justify the cost and can't imagine it ever breaking with normal kitchen use.

I found a very long stainless steel "tweezers" is so helpful. It measures almost 10" or more long, I think. It's so much handier than tongs for flipping bacon, chicken tenders, or any small items you may need to pick up. Does extremely well in cast iron which is what I use more than 50% of time. I gifted one to my adult son who loves it too. Give it a try. 👍🇺🇲

Hello there! I’m new to your channel after Michelle (More than Farmers) mentioned you on her channel… AND I AM OBSESSED! 😊 My mother cooked every meal from scratch for a family of 5 and she was such an amazing cook. Every meal had a meat, a salad, a starch and a vegetable. EVERY SINGLE DAY. As a child I didn’t appreciate the work it took and the commitment from sourcing everything and then making it. And things were rarely on repeat. Now as an adult I know how difficult it is but there are things that make it easier by far like a crockpot which I have traded up for an instant pot. But my favorite kitchen tool by far is my cast iron grill. That is what never leaves my stovetop and has basically made my barbecue obsolete. I use it as a barbecue for grilling veggies, steaks, barbecue chicken… you name it! I too love wrought iron and Dutch ovens! I m so enjoying your journey!❤

OMG this is so accurate and so perfect. As a full time working mom with a large-ish garden who cooks everything from scratch as much as possible, these tools are exactly what is needed I feel. I did want to say that the kitchen aid is also great for the grinder attachment. On it's own it helps me a lot because I can buy a larger primal of meat, break it down, and any cuttings that I have become ground meat. Also, if I have a roast, but turns out we wanna make meatballs instead, easy. You can also put the sausage stuffer attachment on the grinder and make your own sausages. The paddle attachment is one of the best ways I've found of mixing sausages that develops the myacin beautifully and evenly distributes the spices. I could do that by hand, but not gonna lie, it doesn't come out as good. Finally, you can get a food and vegetable strainer that also goes on the end of the grinder and it makes quick work of seeding and skinning tomatoes for canning, making a task that takes an hour, take 10 minutes. I think a lot of people view the kitchen aid as a bread or baking machine, but it really is so much more. If I count up all the money I saved by making my own sausages and ground meats and the likes, that whole mixer and it's attachments paid for itself. It is truly the centerpiece of my kitchen.

I would suggest a few things which I really count on in the kitchen such as long Oxo Tongs which give me an extra hand when I need to place chicken in a baking dish or reach into something hot. Also, since I like to freeze a lot of fruit for smoothies and make lots of salads I really appreciate my Oxo Salad Spinner. I have both a large and small one but rarely use the large. It’s just so handy to wash and dry berries and vegetables in smaller quantities in the small spinner. The one other thing I find really handy is a baking tray or large cookie sheet. They are great for spreading peaches and what not out so they can freeze in pieces before bagging then up. They also save my oven from spills and my counter top from messes. I’ll use one to hold needed ingredients for a recipe and make one trip with it to my work space. Of course, a good Oxo veggie peeler for carrots and potatoes is a must have along with an inexpensive, small, easy to use knife sharpener from a hardware store. I ‘nice to have goodie’ is a trustworthy, insta-read thermometer for meat, chicken, turkey, roasts, frying foods and making candy is fun to have. Sorry, so long but it’s so hard to narrow it all down!

I loved this video. It's always nice to see what tools/gadgets others have and how they use them.

The little spatula/Turner looks like rada. They make knives, they are like a direct market company but their products are amazing I have a lot of their stuff.

I love your list and that the first on the list is cast-iron but I would like to add one thing. I just recently bought an old stove that has a cast iron grill in the middle and if I want to I can take the grill off and add the great for an another burner. But I have a feeling the griddle is there to stay I use that more than anything.

Awesome! Love knowing why you use something and how often:). And, we call the flipper a spatula and the other is a rubber spatula. Seems silly that they have the same name but do completely different things🤦🏼♀️

I love this video so much! Now I have a good list to work from for cooking from scratch essentials. I recently began my own rye sourdough starter, and am going to start a white flour one as well. Learning how to cook with einkorn flour is next on my list. You have inspired me to eat clean and natural. Thank you!

Hey Lisa!! I am a new follower and I'm so glad I found your channel! I have a tip to share in case you didn't know. You can shred cheese in just a few seconds using your food processor with a cheese grating blade. Once I realized that, I hardly ever use my grater. It saves my arm strength (grating cheese is hard 😊), and saves time!
