Thanks for the video mate, watched it today and changed the oil in my Accord Euro (Acura TSX i think in the states) I didn't have a new oil filter though, I know it's not ideal to change oil without replacing the filter but it should be better than not changing the oil at all. Can the filter be replaced without dumping the oil?

There are some useful videos here on KZbin about car ramps, including simple diy ones made from a single block of solid wood :) (and which you drive onto) So as long as I can safely work underneath, I'm really looking forward to saving myself some money over the next few days :) Thank you and God bless you :)

+BlastReadingSeries Mann is a good filter company. I encourage people to get them for Volvo's because they are designed properly for the early white block Volvo engines. Not sure if they are Honda OEM filters but most cars are not as sensitive with filters as the Volvo's are.

Its true about letting bottle seals into the engine. Watch that. I stopped filling the filter with any oil. The engine does that and a second or three is not going to harm anything and is in my opinion overkill. If you drop the filter pre-filled with oil , you better not drop it or have it slipped from your oily hands or your gonna spend some time cleaning everything it spilled on and dont get me started about it getting of the cement. The wife will always remind you on it to everybody she knows.

Quick question on oil change please. I plan to put the pennzoil ultra synthetic oil on my 2007 Accord v6 3L since Walmart has a great price on the 5w20. My question is if I go ahead with the ultra full synthetic oil, at what interval should I make the next oil change? Would it be the regular 3000 - 5000 miles or can I wait till the 10,000 mile interval? What will happen to the oil change percentage % indicator on the dashboard? Will it be as per the next date interval or as per the oil level or as per the miles after you reset? Assuming I get a minimum of 10,000 miles or a year (which ever comes first) will the oil level % indicator adjust itself now that the full synthetic oil is in the car?

There is a small group of people that think putting in thicker or thinner oil than the manufacturer rating will help with whatever problem they are having. It will not. It might sound better, or run smoother, but you will not be lubricating the entire engine properly unless you use the correct weight of oil that the manufacturer wants you to use

Robert DIY sir, almost every diy auto repair and maintenance video on KZbin shows dismantle and reassemble from beginning to end. And considering the wide range of types of oil filter wrenches out there some viewers like to see what you using for certain applications in case the type of car, whether or not the filter can be accessed from the top, side or bottom. My Nissan truck I can remove the filter from the top using a certain tool with an attached extension. Every car is different, so that’s why I said that.

The video clearly shows the filter on the bottom of the engine. I watch a few videos here and there and MOST are NOT 1/2 as detailed as this one. Come on man, put in a little of your own effort.

Robert DIY dude, if I show a video on KZbin on how to remove an oil filter from my Nissan truck I am going to show it’s removal, that’s my effort.

Robert, check out this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6Hdqp6eoK1kpdE It cuts open both Honda oil filters used today by Honda, including yours in this video. The guy cuts open both Honda filters and it showed that Honda is cheaping-out on their new filters even more than before. They now use cardboard hubs and a thinner metal outside canister and drain-back valve while the $10-$15 dollar after-market oil filters usually use metal hubs, thicker outside canisters, and better drain-back valves. After-market filters such as K&N, Long-life Frams, HAMP, Purple Oil have better quality parts inside. It's all about Honda cutting costs to the last dot to shave pennies off of their total expenses. Less metal and quality components in the Honda oil filters multiplied by millions of filters installed on Honda vehicles at the dealership means shamming more and more profits for Mr. Honda corporation.

+Jason Jay Oh, so they are both Honda branded filters but they appear to be made cheaper than before. That is sad. Maybe they are trying to trim the motor life down to match their crappy transmissions???

Yeah, Scotty Kilmer said Honda started as a motorcycle company, not a car company. Motorcycles don't have automatic transmissions and that's one of the reasons Honda never made good automatic transmissions. You ask a 4th or 5th generation Prelude owner with an automatic trans and they'll tell you they start going bad around 100k to 150k miles. Manual was the way to go for Preludes. That's also why you always want to use Honda DW-1 trans oil when refilling the tank on any Honda.

It's just another example of the rich getting richer by trying to pull a fast one on the gullible and honest customer. Eric the Car Guy used to work for Honda. He said service departments would just replace any part that could of easily been preserved by just cleaning it. But he said there's no money in cleaning things, so they just replaced it. Seeing it from the dealerships perspective it makes sense for their wallets, but not customer's wallets.
