Thanks for this video. There is some degree of dislike for this synth out there, and I am glad somebody has taken the time to break it down for those of us who don't read a manual. I have had it a year or so now, and use it as a convenient light-weight travel synth that one doesn't mind getting bashed about a bit😁. lots of hidden functions on this machine, this video has helped me to unlock some of it's hidden talents! I heard some tones I did not think possible so it was a nice surprise. Nobody can doubt that system-1 definitely cuts through the mix (like a katana) and has a few bass tones which have the potential to upset your neighbours. 😉Thanks again.

Yes it is actually a very good synth, I love it! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I just spent 9 hours messing around with it!! Love it. It's big & green, the Borg have helped design it, & the sound is remarkably complex if the time is taken to get to know it. I'm a convert. Works great with the TR8!

Thank you so much for making this and taking the time to explain in detail all the knobs and functions. Ive owned this synth since it came and even sold and rebought it at some point and there was always some things I couldnt find in the "user manual" . Now I have access to 64 patches, yay... also it was my first synth so the learning curve was hard but anyway thanks!

Absolutely! I think this thing sounds great on its own, and with the ability to emulate older synths though the "plug out" feature it's pretty incredible.

HI Ron very interesting tutorial!! Roland talks about 64 preset patches using internal memory (that's ok, it works), but what about 64 user patches created in manual mode? No way to save them without overwriting preset one. Or not? Please let me know. Regards

Good tutorial. Most other tutorials don't discuss the synth part very well and skip to the plugout section or one of the other features Personally i got a system 1m second hand, and I do get a synth when I press the plugout button. Don't know with one is loaded though. Doesn't it come with a default plugout synth?

No step seq. I recommend getting a workhorse Sequencer if you wanted that, there's so many great options for a Sequencer that it shouldn't matter :)

It really allows you to focus on the main parts of the System-1 and its Plugout, Sound creation, and Scatter, Arpeggiator. Add in a TB3 or TR8 and you are near unstoppable live, lol. 😆
