TIP: The key to a successful disarm is WHEN your choose to make your move. I was taught to wait until the attacker is talking to make the move. When a human speaks, their brain becomes engaged in that and their ability to process things around them will go down slightly. It's an incremental difference, but a difference nonetheless.

Another good method is as follows. Someone is pointing a gun at you. You grab the gun by the slide with your hand while quickly biting down as hard as you can at the front sight. If you bite hard enough, you will close off the muzzle so that no projectiles can be ejected. Another method is to grab the pistol by the slide and then to tie the barrel in to a knot. This will make the projectile fly back at the attacker. This has been demonstrated beautifully by Roadrunner while avoiding the booby traps of the Wiley Coyote.

Excellent video brotha! A+... I've been teaching self defense since 95 and these techniques you shared in this video are awesome! amazing demonstration. For me being a martial artist, I'm very critical about techniques. I appreciate something good when I see it and this is definitely a good one. thumbs up for sure! Don't know how you have 2 thumbs down, piss on the haters, they're just trolling. Your techniques shared in this video are ones that I also teach because of their simplicity and in a moment of crisis, that's the difference between being successful or being a statistic... great job! thank you!!

Most vids I see on this are pathetic. This is drastically more realistic, and much props given to the channel for the honesty. Confidence with your moves are important, but meaningless if you're not willing to die for the sake of dying. Remember fellas, ladies walk on your inside, not the street side. Dont let yourself into the position where you'd be pointing it at her when you swipe... 10% is knowing what to do, 90% is being prepared and mentally available to react to it. The moral of the story is stay strapped and stay calm.

I was taught both methods and even a few others years ago for my job. I personally like the first method shown. It seems to be the easiest and was the most natural for me when it came to speed. However the second method is just as fast with practice. I felt the first is a little better too because most people can pick up movement fairly quickly through their peripheral vision. Coming straight at them is a little more undetectable in the first second or two. Also for non hammered guns if the gun fires while you're clamped down preventing the slide from operating, hopefully preventing the next round from being chambered

Good basics instruction... but my issue here is someone holding you at gunpoint isn't going to just let you grab it from him... even if you're fast they aren't just gunna let you step out of the way either.... if the other is smart, they would stand a decent distance from your ability to disarm

Great video. Question: Shouldn't the individual who is preparing to perform the disarm maneuver, especially the one where the weapon is to be forcefully turned to the side, take into consideration his/her surroundings for reason of weapon discharge and stray bullet striking any near or non-near bystander during the forced disarm? I know it is a tough scenario and every single scenario is different, but if you are in an area with other people in the line-of-fire, it is tough to make a proper judgment call during such a stressful and reactive situation. What do you think sir?
@stephentosenegg
@stephentosenegg 6 жыл бұрын
Well... Here's a more important question - are you more interested in saving your own life despite a possible injury to a bystander, or would you rather die trying to figure it out? Also, the first method shown would likely be the easiest and "safest" if you're in a crowd, since you're forcing the firearm up, rather than to the side . Also being completely honest here, using the first method I personally would toss the weapon in the same downwards movement for a (lethally forced) throat punch-follow-up as soon as my opponent is disarmed. While yanking downwards step backwards, let go/toss the firearm, step forward with knife-hand-jab or punch straight into the Adam's apple with as much force as possible. Optimally you'll break his windpipe. Meet lethal force with equally lethal force in my humble opinion.

The first gun disarm seems to me to be the most effective because it is simple compared to the second one but I have a question: you're both right handed as am I. If the shooter was left-handed would I have to modify my disarm technique as well?
@gb93669
@gb93669 7 жыл бұрын
Jerald Mcclain Yes. Think about your attacker's position. You wouldn't want to step to the left as shown here. Step to your right instead, once again to get out of line of his fire. I would like to add that any attempt to disarm an attacker should be if you feel you will be shot even if you comply or have complied. I've taught martial arts and disarming attackers and unless you are very practiced and confident, you may end up shot. Only attempt if you feel you're going to be shot, and have no other choice.

A robber has the finger on the trigger. If you take the weapon, he / she will try to hold onto it and a shot will inevitably go off. This certainly happens the moment you pull the weapon away. The loading carriage moves back and forth, the sleeve ejection opening opens and closes, your hand is on top of the weapon, 2 options: 1 / your hand burned by the piping hot sleeve. 2 / you pinch your palm or your fingers in the ejection opening. I think it's endgame for you. Why do you as specialists not know this? You don't believe it, try with a loaded, unsecured weapon. I'm looking forward to your answer.

Good video... thanks for informing about the trigger guard...I would prefer to dislocated the finger, perhaps even detaching it during the take-away.. Also, I would anticipate the bad guy pulling the trigger....be prepared for the slide action while attempting to grip the barrel, if it’s an auto and be prepared for the bang noise.. everyone who practices shooting always wears ear protection so that percussion could be deafening... And if the bad guy does get off a shot you may not initially know if you were hit... I’ve known several people who have been shot and didn’t even know it until they saw the blood... Just saying 😉🙏
