Hello Mr Baum. I live in the midwest. I recently got back into photography with the goal of supplementing my income. I've been retired for just over 5 years now. Currently I work for one of the big houses that offer photography services across the country for Realtors. They really don't want us to do anything with our photos, but I feel that if I can learn to apply some good techniques that you teach, using Lightroom and Photoshop, I can become a better photographer. I have been watching your videos for the last few months. I also watch another renowned photographer from the west coast who has some very good videos (and books), but they are so long and wordy that I end up feeling frustrated at the end. I love that you want this to be simple and FUN. This video was one of the easiest for me to follow. You make it so simple. I am finally retaining some of the details and your post processing steps are finally catching on. I really appreciate that. I can breathe again. Thank you so much for sharing. It has already put money in my pocket and inspired me to carry on to go from good to great.

Very nice photos, indeed! I am amazed how well you manage to blend ambient on "normal" mode instead of "luminance". What is the benefit of using normal instead of luminance in these examples?

Luminosity mode can crest more issues than it’s worth. I just find normal mode to work best for me.

Thanks Rich Greetings from down under. Always enjoyable watching your videos as there are tips for pros as well as novices and you make things easy to understand. I saw a couple of rectilinear images that you had in lightroom when you flicked over can you do a video as i would love to see your workflow as I bought a ricoh theta z1 a while back and whilst I am getting good results as a pro you can always get better and you never stop learning. Thanks mate!

@@RichBaum I am forcing myself to shoot 2 shots per home no matter what to force me to polish my skills. With the Ricoh theta you can shoot in RAW which is great. I am finding the killer is no flash and blown windows. Also over here the images only work natively on facebook none of the realestate websites support them as a stand alone image. The easiest workflow I have found so far is lightroom for colour etc ( australian spelling ) and then converting to rectilinear and then going over to PS for the rest. Hey it is a bit of fun and a different way of thinking Enjoy

Hey Rich learning heaps off your videos great job! Just wondering what you are looking for from the flash shot and how to get there. Consistent color within the exposure is most important i guess but how do you meter for it or is it just trial and error on the display till you feel its adequate. Also when taking the ambient what are you metering off shadows, mids? Thanks Rich again.

Rich, I'm curious, I've just getting started and was wondering if you ever do real estate video's, 360, floor plans, drone etc. for your clients. It seems every agent I speak with acts like getting all of these items are the new normal. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
@RichBaum5 жыл бұрын
I just started doing 360 panos and I plan to offer floor plans next year
@BrewReview4 жыл бұрын
Offering them is something that you should consider but definitely charge for individual services. Here in DC, depending on location I can send a drone up for $300 and produce a 30s to 1min long drone video. Add that to your $200 photo package and that’s a payday right there. Oh, 360 walkthrough video? Bust out the Ronin S and walk around the property slowly, $300 please. Being ABLE to offer them is beneficial, how many realtors really buy in depends on your market and the quality of property being shown. What I will say is that video is definitely taking over and I’ve even had to switch camera systems to accommodate that in the past few years due to insane demand.

I’ve successfully used these techniques thanks! But what I’ve noticed in my images are sometimes the images don’t line up. I’m using a tripod, there’s no camera shake. It’s the weirdest thing. I import the images into Capture Pro, nothing is cropped. I go to edit in PS and they’re not aligned. So I have to maneuver to line them up. Like I said it’s the strangest thing.
@RichBaum2 жыл бұрын
I think I have a video for auto align in Photoshop But in case I don’t just do a search on KZbin for auto align in Photoshop I know though in many of my older videos and some of the newer ones I show you had an audible line when I’m editing in my tutorial videos and it’s something I have to do on every single image I edit that I’m dealing with layers, I just suggest you do it

I'd actually assigned a keyboard shortcut to 'open as layers in PS' from LR which worked wonders, but then it stopped working... i need to check why and reset it... it was very helpful. I also assigned kb shortcut in PS to select layers and aligne them and another one to add a black layer mask and change layer mode to darken (for window pulls), but you can also do one changing the layer mode to luminosity. oh, and i also assigned shortcuts on my wacom tablet, so I could use either the kb or the tablet. :-)
@RichBaum5 жыл бұрын
R Souza I too always use hot keys but for my videos and the fact that I’m dealing with new photographers they would have no idea about what hot key I’m using so I have to do everything the same way every time to teach people. But hot keys are the way to go. Saves lots of time. I use Cmd C to send files as layers into PS and then I use Cmd 1 to auto align
